Beautiful sea view and the staff are so nice. I would like a fridge in the room, just for the milk I bring with me and the very soft mattress could do with an upgrade for my poor old back. My partner said the breakfast was very good. Hope to see you next year
Tips:Lovely prom walks. The Sea Palace restaurant is our favourite Chinese restaurant. There's a lift and an escalator that takes you from sea level to the high street if you have old bones like me and want to conserve a bit of energy. It's situated in the shopping arcade at the East end of the harbour road.

Had a very friendly welcome from Steve on our arrival, we had a room that looked out over the sea which was amazing as it was a very stormy night could sit in the window and watch the waves coming over the railings. We had all our meals at The Lugger which were delicious would definitely stay here again .
Tips:Leave the car 🚘 and take the local bus to Lands End interesting trip down all the country lanes.

I had a wonderful stay. The room was comfortable and clean, with good facilities. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious and exceptional value for money. The staff were all so welcoming. I couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay.

Stayed for 3 nights, the room was very nice and clean, we had a view of the promenade and a great sea view. We had a carvery which was okay, but the breakfasts were excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly and go out of their way to make sure that you are well catered for. The only improvement that could be made, would be to have a fridge in the room, otherwise I can really recommend the Lugger Inn if you are spending some time in Penzance.
Tips:There are good bus routes from Penzance if you want to see the local area and don't fancy driving yourself.

We enjoyed a very pleasant 2 night stay here. Everyone friendly and helpful. Very nice, warm, clean and comfortable room with amazing views. Nice breakfast with plenty of choices. Very nice pizza and scallops on the Italian night and the buffet looked amazing. Parking not a problem this time of year.
Tips:Very well situated close to town centre, rail and bus links and for exploring the local area. Lots of local restaurants and bars and plenty of lovely walks.

The shower in our room was poor and requires attention. The flow is feeble and the temperature difficult to control. However, the staff were lovely and the food was great. We particularly enjoyed the fish chowder, the Italian buffet on Friday evening and the Sunday carvery- all good value. Parking was a problem, except when we arrived and found a space in Queens Rd close by and on Saturday night when we found a space on the seafront opposite the hotel, on returning from the Minack Theatre.
Tips:Minack Theatre - ignore satnav, keep to A30 until just after Sennen, then turn left and left again. Wrap up well. Take something waterproof and cushions to sit on. Admiral Benbow pub in Chapel St is fun. Take swimming costumes for the saltwater geothermal lido, Jubilee Pool, on the seafront.

Stayed here 4 times now and will continue coming back because I cannot fault it, lovely rooms with amazing views (sea view room), kind friendly staff, amazing food and just good wholesome vibes.
Tips:St Michael’s Mount is a must to visit (easier to book online before you go but you can pay when you’re there) and Paradise Park is amazing, if you go early you can see the otters and penguins being fed whilst it’s still fairly quiet at the park.

Very friendly and helpful gentleman on reception when we arrived. Our room had a good view of St Michael’s Mount and the seafront. Food was good and would recommend you for people to stay
Tips:The open top bus trip from Penzance bus station around the coast either clockwise or anti clockwise. We did the anti clockwise which went via Marazion, St Ives and Lands End then back to Penzance. A trip which if you have a senior citizens bus pass is free or it is a one payment of £2. If you wanted to you can hop on and off and look more at certain areas. It’s a round trip of around 3 hours 45 minutes.

Close on full marks in all departments barring a minor issue with the hot water feed in the room that I stayed. Being on the top floor such issues are not unexpected and when brought to the notice the issue was immediately rectified without complaint. Staff were great, helpful at all times. Breakfast was very nice with full range of items to choose from. 'Quirky sea view in eves' has great views also clean, warm, quiet and cosy. Perfect for me. The Lugger also has it's own welcoming bar with good range of beverages and spacious seating in or outside. Highly recommended 👍👍👍
Tips:The Lugger is a great location to access all local facilities. Situated amongst other hostels, restaurants, supermarket and petrol station. Easy walking along promenade orin to Penzance centre and walkable to from the coach/train unless you prefer a taxi. Lots to do, sealife boat trips, Scilly Isles ferry, good walks all around. Open top bus circuiting the Lands End headland for a sunny calm day. Rich in history, every place has it's own story and the scenery is stunning. Great place for families or singles. Fish and chips heaven 😋

I felt quite at home from the minute I arrived. I had a lovely spacious room with a nice light decor and a fantastic Seaview. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the food was delicious. Thank you.
Tips:I don't have a car so it was very useful to find the railway station, bus station and tourist information all next to each other. I caught a bus to St Just, where I visited the Art Gallery of World renowned artist Kurt Jackson, which is free. He is also involved with the Seal Research Foundation (I think it's called that) and there was a very interesting exhibition about this upstairs). I also caught a bus to St Ives, which is absolutely beautiful. I visited The Barbara Hepworth Museum, Tate St Ives, the Museum and an exhibition at the St Ives Art Club. I had a wonderful walk along the South West Coast Path to Marazion and the beautiful St Michael's Mount. On my return I visited Penlee House Gallery and Museum in Morrab Road, which is just past the Lugger Inn. I also visited Morrab Gardens. There is so much to do and see in the area. I feel I've just started.

We enjoyed our stay. Room 15 was very comfortable and we enjoyed the sea view. Some of the paintwork on the stairs needs repainting, the grouting at the bottom of the shower needs replacing, Despite reporting it, the light above the wash basin wasn't replaced. We ate in the dining room on 4 nights and enjoyed the food. Unfortunately the Friday evening was completely spoilt by Riley, the child of one of your staff, running around and shouting.
Tips:Good parking on the road and in a bay further down. Hotel 20 minutes walk from the station. All buses including the open top coastal take the senior bus pass.

Owner Response:Thank you for your review, we are so sorry that your restaurant experience was disturbed by Riley, it is always a difficult call when trying to introduce a child to different surroundings, we think the fruit shoot didn't help, we can only apologise and bring this to his mums attention...with regards to the light and the shower this we have passed on to the general manager.

From arrival to departure, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We had a Seaview room which was fantastic. There were a few stairs to get there, so bear that I'm mind. We would love to go back. We had a car which we didn't use much. Parking is a bit of a challenge. The buses are great and you can use the coastal path for walking.
Tips:Mackerel Bay is a great seafood light bight stop. No reservations so you might have to queue. There's a lovely fishmonger on the Newlyn Harbor which sells delicious crab sandwiches made fresh. The Lands End Coaster is a good choice bus, hop on and hop off all around the coast. Great atmosphere and food at the Admiral Benbow pub. The Lizard is worth a trip too.

The perfect location, such hard working and helpful staff, good breakfast. Fresh paint and carpets but showers weren’t powerful and mattresses tired! All forgiven due to lovely people and stunning location. All in all a comfortable stay.
Tips:Mermaid Alley bistro in chapel street for unusual but delicious food. Starter of buffalo broccoli delicious, no buffalo involved! Cheap and fun Is the meadery by the landing stage to the Scillies. We had smaller portion of chicken and chips, bottle of wine and 2 good puds, all for £58, not bad these days. Lovely staff too!

Would love to give you an excellent review, but can't... Walls paper-thin with cartoon creaky floorboards, tiny tiny bathroom and mattresses a couple of stays past their best. Furniture ok if dated- except for the table in the window which needs repairing/replacing. Our room was very warm even with the fan blowing, so I would not like to stay here when the weather is good. Breakfast was ok, but food was disappointing quality and poor preparation. Had pizza in the restaurant one evening. Despite the waitress admitting she misheard our order she would not refund the fourth pizza- there were 3 of us?, Just boxed it up for us. Ruined our evening.
Tips:Good situation for exploring the local area. Frasers Fish and Chips just along the road was excellent. Watch the parking as it could be very easy to get blocked in, especially if you want to take your car out in the evening or leave early in the morning.

Do not order steak! They have no idea how to prepare it. I ordered rare ribeye, and got medium done low quality meat full of fat. All was covered with sauce as if they were trying to hide it. I loved my stay here. The staff were all excellent-helpful, welcoming and friendly. The room was just as promised-in the eaves and quirky. The view was breathtaking. I could have sat in the window and watched the sea all day! The room was spotless and the bathroom with a double ended bath looked fab but the water pressure is an issue when using the bath/shower, there was also not enough hot water when I needed it. This wouldn’t stop me staying again though but it might be more of an issue for other people. I visit Penzance regularly and would definitely stay in the luggar again.

Lovely place to stay. We had a room at the rear of the inn it was very good, clean with plenty of space. The staff were very friendly, informed us about inn and surrounding area and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was outstanding good quality food, quick friendly service with plenty to choose from. We had dinner in the restaurant on two occasions and the meals were again outstanding with plenty of choice and they were delicious and filling. Again the service was superb. We would definitely stay at this inn again and will recommend it to any one who is visiting Penzance.
Tips:Would recommend the inns restaurant. We visited May’s Chinese and the meal was very good there. The seafront is beautiful and a lovely walk around the harbour. A really good find. I'd been to the pub on previous visits to Penzance but this was the first time we'd stayed. The room was bright clean and comfortable. The only downside was during the night we were occasionally woken by what sounded like a motor running. If it's likely to effect I'd recommend a sea view as that's away from the kitchen where we thought the motor is

We had a very enjoyable stay and the lovely room upgrade was a lovely bonus. Thank you so much. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Tips:We would thoroughly recommend the Friday night Italian buffet at the hotel and also the Sunday carvery. In the past we have also eaten midweek and enjoyed the wide range of menu at very reasonable prices. There are lovely views of Mounts Bay from the front rooms which are bright and airy.

11th April 2023:
Honestly, I really recommend this place for many reasons. Btw, I stayed during the Easter Holiday 2023 (Friday to Monday). I paid £55 per night because I got it on a promo and I booked in advance. That includes the buffet breakfast. Listed below are the really amazing things about this accommodation: 1. Dave was very accommodating and hospitable. He goes above and beyond especially during breakfast. He was just very nice and kind. 2. They allowed me to check-in early because my bus arrived at Penzance by 7am. (Note though that they allowed because the previous guests in the room left early that day). They also replied with my e-mail and phone call when I was coordinating this. Dave checked me in and explained everything. The room was not yet made when I arrived because the guests that was staying in Room 23 just left, but Dave made sure that it was made immediately. 3. The breakfast buffet was phenomenal. The sausages, for some reason, were very good. Don’t know what difference do they have from the sausages that I buy in London but they were definitely better. Maybe it’s the way they cooked it. Their restaurant is very spacious. And like what I said, Dave was a very good host and waiter during breakfast time. 4. I was in Room 23 (Sennen Cove Room) and boy, THE VIEW FROM MY ROOM WAS AMAZING. IT WAS FACING THE PROMENADE SO I SEE THE SUN RISE AND SET AND I HEAR THE WAVES TOUCHING THE WALLS OF THE PROMENADE which was wonderful. 5. My room has a double bed, very spacious, has a telly, a good sized closet, viewing chairs and table in the window area, very spacious bath and toilet as well. 6. The cleaning ladies/gents (which I haven’t met) tidied my room very well everyday. Thanks to them as well. 7. The Inn is a short walk from the Penzance Train and Bus Station. It is very close to the Jubilee Pool which also has a bus stop. There is an Iceland and Lidl close by too. Needs Improvement: 1. Room 23 has a low water pressure in the shower. The toilet and the tap both have really good water pressure though. It is just the shower, so my shower time was a bit longer because of this. At one point, I had to improvise and use water bottles to do the shower quickly. The water temperature was good though, there is warm and cool water in the tap and the shower. 2. Room 23 is just above the restaurant so you can sometimes hear the restaurant guests from the room. It did not bother me at all though because the noise is very minimal. Thank you very much to The Lugger Inn Team for a very nice stay.

The hotel was full of agricultural workers which wasn't what we were expecting. The stay was expensive for what it was.
Would Recommend: No
Owner Response:Thank you for completing a review of our INN, we note your comments with regards to our agricultural workers staying here with us for the winter picking season, we are sorry if they upset you in any way, what exactly was the issue please? we have the workers stay with us every year and to date we have not received any complaints, the workers allow us to afford to stay open during the autumn and winter when normal trade is very quiet, at the time of your booking we had several offers on for 2 & 3 night stays allowing a 30% discount on all rooms? so I am sorry if this was not to your budget, we do hope that you will try us again at some point, we have some great savings from 2nd April up to 10th June 3 nights or more saving £30 per night!

Thank you to the wonderful staff/management. They are friendly and nothing is too much for them. The rooms are good quality and very clean. We had an outstanding view from our room.the food is really good and we really enjoyed our cooked breakfasts.the views are good from the jubilee pool to Newlyn and we can highly recommend a stay there.
Tips:If you want a really friendly and relaxing atmosphere please stay at the Lugger hotel you’ll love it. The views are great and the walks along the sea front are the best. You’ll love Marazion and St Michael’s mount. Penzance itself has some querky streets to investigate. Mousehole up the road is a gem with narrow streets , a lovely harbour and more lovely shops. The longboat is good for food and atmosphere in Penzance but you’ll find it hard to beat the food at the Lugger …please visit The lizard point , cape Cornwall and kynance cove all of these are amazing amongst many other places in the lovely Cornwall … it is truly a gem of a county

Owner Response:Thank you for the 4 out of 5 review we note your comments with regards to the stairs being a little to much for you, perhaps next time you could mention this and we will accommodate you accordingly, as to the lack of hot water we are a very old building and the main boiler is on the ground floor so unfortunately a little patience is called for when waiting on the hot water we do explain this to any guests staying on the top floors and this doesn't seem to be a problem for most staying with us, we note your comments with regards to the lighting and will look into bedside table lights - thank you!

I ate dinner in every evening of my stay. However, it would have been great to have had a lounge area to enjoy after dinner drinks....in comfort; not in the dining room. As a business, think of the money you would make-when people are relaxed: they drink (and eat) more. I answered yes to the last question; recommending to other travellers, but with reservations!
Tips:My tip for other travellers is to research Cornwall before the visit; there is so much to see after careful planning. There are trains and buses from Penzance that travel county wide, for people who don't own cars; and then there is the coastal path for walkers. I hope the Lugger Inn doesn't suffer too much due to the forthcoming energy crisis.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thank you for your review it is very much appreciated...we too would like to have a lounge area it is something we are looking into however, we would need more space in order to provide one...lots of ideas so who knows maybe in the near future this might be possible and yes this winter is certainly going to be a struggle for all small businesses.

Good price for the location. Old building, slightly tired. Good buffet breakfast, but slow service on a couple of days.and if you're going to say a customer is being a 'fat pig' to another staff member, best not to do so when they can hear you.

Very friendly staff especially the lady who served us breakfast every morning. Great selection of cereals and cooked breakfast. Lovely spacious room, not the best of views at rear of hotel (we have seen worse 😂) but didn’t book the hotel for the view and were out and about all day. There are rooms at front with sea view. About 10/15 min walk to centre of Penzance where there is an abundance of shops, restaurants, bars etc. Also the open air pool nearby.
Tips:Think I covered that in above. Some stunning architecture in town too. Handy for train & bus stations. We paid £5 each for bus day ticket and went all round Cornwall by bus, you can hop on/off as you please. Family ticket is only £10 and valid with any bus operator. Super service.

Staff were amazing, very approachable and helpful. Room was OK, mould in parts of the bathroom. Hugely uncomfortable headboard (fence). Annoying constant drip outside my window, slept terrible because of it. Shower was poor pressure wise Breakfast was amazing. I felt the menu was limited, disappointed that "seasonal vegetables" was 3 different coloured peppers. Steak and Ale pie was more gravy than anything else. No outside table service was disappointing. I would say that The Lugger Inn was OK, saved from less than that by the staff. I wouldn't recommend it to others or stay there again.

The Lugger is one of the most friendly Inns/Hotels that we have ever stayed at. The staff really make the Lugger what it is and are a real credit to you. Although all of the staff were really helpful and friendly, for us the Housekeeper was the stand-out, she was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her.
Tips:Make a point of visiting Zebra Crossing Cafe at 10A Morrab Road. Facilities would have been 5 - the shower in the room (23) was hard work, the water pressure was far too low. It would have been nice to have 2 small arm chairs in the room

Owner Response:Thank you for your review we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay...we note your comments with regards to our "Free" car park and we do clearly state that we have a very small car park on site which can accommodate approximately 6 cars...however we do realise that whilst it is an awkward layout i.e.; (two lines of x 3 cars, so not great if you are the middle car) customers do have a choice whether to use the car park or park off site... most guests when staying usually leave their car in the car park and support our public transport when here, we can only provide what we have, there is also "free" parking on the promenade directly opposite our business this though is very much at a premium during the high season which is when you were staying with us, if you booked online with an agent then they also do have this information...we can only apologise if you did not see this information at the time of your booking.

Everyone I dealt with was an absolute pleasure. I was super nervous about going on my first solo holiday but the staff were so friendly and made me feel totally welcome. Breakfast was delicious and my room was perfect, a complete haven to escape to when the heat got a bit *too* much! After locking myself out of my room going for a morning cigarette, I was helped by a woman who very kindly made sure I was okay before getting it sorted. It was nice to be able to have a laugh and a joke about the unusual architecture and be recommended some beautiful local cider too. I can’t wait to come back.
Tips:I didn’t get to do nearly as much as I wanted during my stay as I was so distracted with the scenery. My main recommendation would be to take your time, you can’t rush in a town like this. The Lugger Inn restaurant was incredible although book a table in advance, this place gets very busy for good reason! Polgoon Vineyard was beautiful and everything in the gift shop was delicious. The local shops have a lot more to offer than you’d think, a short walk up the hill takes you to some independent businesses that I could have spent hours in. On the way home I was already planning my next visit and it’ll definitely be at the Lugger Inn again.

Perfect location and the most friendly staff. We had a very warm welcome and throughout our stay the staff were fantastic. Such a warming place to stay. Breakfast was amazing and room was very clean! Would certainly return and we highly recommend others to stay.
Tips:We recommend the local boat trips and little cafes around. We had dinner our first night an The Luggers Inn which was perfect and ventured to Mousehole for the other night. The only thing we recommend is take buses where you can as in smaller towns parking is minimal. Will definitely be returning to Penzance!!!

Great location. Great breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. We would go back. The mattresses did not give us as much support as we would have liked.

Lovely warm welcome on arrival. The family room had a stunning view and was perfect for the 4 of us. We chose to eat in the evening at The Lugger and the menu had lots of choice. The food we received really was delicious and clearly freshly prepared. We had to leave fairly early the next morning (and outside of breakfast hours) and the staff at The Lugger were extremely helpful and certainly went out of their way to ensure we had breakfast prior to leaving. We look forward to going back next year!

Lovely hotel with everything we needed. Friendly staff. Good to be provided with fan in room as got very hot. We’re both vegetarian so was nice to have wide selection of options for a main meal. Could have done with maybe some vegetarian sausages and pastries or fruit at breakfast, else was very tasty. Sea view fantastic.
Tips:Local wildlife watching boat trips and open top buses both great ways to explore the local sites. We came by train but public transport to sites and villages very good. Minack theatre lovely to walk around, we thought that had a better garden area then st Michael’s Mount. St Ives on bus or train great place to go for a beach day.

Friendly staff. Breakfast was ample and freshly cooked with a good choice of cereal etc , tea and fresh coffee. Picked a tricky weekend without knowing on booking. Credit to staff and organisers it all went off without trouble that we saw. Only criticism would be low water pressure in the bathroom, entrance lobby could have done with a mopping daily after the events, but guessing this is not the norm for a weekend stay. Overall the clear up was pretty impressive for such an event .
Tips:Lovely walk to mousehole round the coast path. Fish and chips behind the lugger very good . Indian restaurant also great flavour food and friendly service.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thank you for your review it is greatly appreciated, yes the weekend was shall we say "Pretty Busy" over 40,000 people hit our tiny town and this was definitely the busiest we have seen it over the past 32 years of its existence, we do apologise that the reception floor was a little scruffy during this busy time... staffing has been very difficult across the board in the hospitality sector we do hope that it didn't affect your stay too much.

Room facilities need to be improved. Water/ biscuits almost standard these days including hair dryer. Shower holder in Room 6 was broken with poor water flow. Also no welcome brochure in Room 6. Flat roof outside Room 9 needs requires cleaning & maintenance. Parking difficult and limited. Marked bays might help.
Tips:Good restaurants nearby particularly The Bakehouse, Artist’s Residence. Publicise ‘Open Topped’ bus routes.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Od dear it would seem that your stay was not up to your standards, this is a shame especially as whilst you were with us you didn't mention any of this to us? I will do my best to answer your issues:* Shower holder has now been fixed, water flow is due to the boiler being situated on the other side of the Inn and it does take a while for the flow to reach this side of the building the building is extremely old and whilst it oozes character there are some things that just cannot be sorted due to the age...we stopped providing biscuits with our tea & coffee in the rooms as some guests decided to feed the seaguls with them which caused untold issues both inside and outside of the INN, with regards to drinking water we do not provide bottled water as the water from the tap is perfectly fit for human consumption, we agree that the flat roof outside of room 9 does need a tidy up and this is part of our ongoing improvements here, our car park affords just 8 spaces and is strictly first come first serve basis whilst its small it is "free" and there is the added bonus of free parking directly opposite the Inn something not a lot of towns or Hotels/Inns have the luxury of, placing markers in the car park would not alter the fact that if you are the middle car you will still be blocked in, this is why we take your registration on arrival - we are sorry that you experienced theses issues.

Lovely room. With character sloping floor😀 shame we were above function room and had not been informed about a party on our last night there. We could not find anyone on reception to ask if we could change rooms that eve . We had to move our car away from function room as people had spilled out into car park . The noise was so deafening in our room we had to go out, which we not planning to do on our last night.
Tips:Not much in town centre. Grubby We found an Italian next to queens hotel which was very accommodating and the Godolphin was. Ok. St michaels mount was well worth the visit and neighbouring marizian was a much better area for drinks and dining
Would Recommend: No
Owner Response:Sorry to hear that you experienced noise from the birthday party on site, the reception bell is in the outer reception which is connected to the owners accommodation and they would have been happy to help you...also any member of staff working that evening could have helped...our reception is not manned 24/7 as we are a small family run business.

Superb service from all staff encountered; in bar and dining room, check in and at the wedding we were there to celebrate. It was obvious that everyone was working really hard. If things weren't quite right, issues were dealt with straight away. Food excellent quality and value for money. The home made desserts and cream teas were a real highlight!
Tips:Would recommend restaurant at The Lugger Inn. Only issue is parking. Parking along the promenade is free but so busy, we only got a space one night. Pay and display at St Anthony's car park less than 5 mins away is free from 4pm til 9am so we parked here overnight and easy to pay on the Just Park app when we needed to.

Fabulous location. Very comfortable beds, large, modern, clean room. Lovely triple wardrobe and large flat screen t.v. Very efficient heating. Helpful and friendly staff. The only negative was the shower really which was a bit temperamental, and slow to drain from the shower tray. Thank you for a lovely , comfortable 2 night stay.

Perfectly placed on the Prom. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Great views of the bay and excellent food with generous portions.
Tips:The Food In the Lugger is great. There are other interesting pubs and restaurants in Penzance. The Acorn theatre is a great place for music or a play. Mousehole is lovely and of course St Michael's mount is close and visible in the bay. Lands end Sennen cove and cape Cornwall are all worth a visit. It's a short drive to St.Erth park and ride to get the train to St Ives but I find St Ives to packed for my liking.

Welcoming, friendly staff. Comfortable family room with sea view had good facilities. Had dinner a couple of times in the restaurant which was delicious and service was great. The included breakfast was really good.
Tips:Dolphin Tavern in Penzance - lovely pub. Boatshed - great restaurant with lots of fresh fish on the menu. Walked from Lands End to Sennen Cove for great fish & chips and crab sandwiches. Walked from St Ives to Porthmeor - lovely beach. Visited Trengwainton National Trust gardens on a wet day for a walk and a nice cream tea.

We have just stayed at this lovely and friendly hotel for a week. The staff are excellent and make you feel very welcome. They always have a laugh with you. The hotel is clean and serves excellent food and drinks. We can recommend this hotel 100 percent.
Tips:There is a small car park to the front of the hotel but you can park for free on the road opposite. See views are amazing from the restaurant. Location wise is great for exploring Lands End , Marazion , St. Ives and other areas. There are plenty of restaurants in Penzance too.

The location overlooking the promenade and St Michael's is fantastic, as was the view from our room. The room was really clean, but the dining room felt quite grubby and we often had to discard a few plates and bowls till we found a clean one. We also spotted mould on the natural yoghurt bowl which was really off-putting. The staff were really friendly, except one of the male bar staff who was really really smarmy and creeped us both out (I'd honestly check his background record!) and sometimes the breakfast staff could be quite vocal about how much they had to do and how hard it was, which wasn't the most relaxing atmosphere. The hotel is fab, it just feels like management needs to be clear with staff about what image they want portraying to guests, and consider what they want their reputation to be about. Thank you for having us :-)

Fantastic location. Staff on the whole were accomodation. Minor issues, one or two luggage racks in the bedrooms, and more hanging/shelf space in the bathroom would be helpful.

The staff at the property were very accommodating; Ruth on reception, the jolly lady and gentleman in the dining room for breakfast and lastly the Housekeeper, I am sorry I cannot remember her name. However the room was very shabby; the divans under the bed-skirts were soiled. A lot of plaster off of the wall. The back of the wardrobe has come off, the soap dispenser in the bathroom over the basin is broken, the pedal bin in the bathroom is broken, the shower itself is badly stained (shower tray) the lamp over the king size bed did not work, in general poor quality and not in good condition. No housekeeping service because of Covid-19 but the Housekeeper provided us with necessary towels and we took out the rubbish.

Owner Response:Thanks for the review, we are sorry that we did not meet your expectations and we have taken on board you comments, we will definitely be making the necessary maintenance checks and repairs needed, we wish that you had bought these issues to us whilst staying here it would have been good to have either offered you another room or start with the repairs asap.

Shower not draining away Breakfast cereals served in big plastic containers not very elegant more like a school canteen Slop buckets at breakfast on table in dining room not nice need doing behind the scenes Breakfast was excellent as was service Great view over the bay Breakfast starts too late for the Scilly isles ferry so need bringing back to sand as time listed in folder . However we were offered a packed lunch but then noticed as we left that other guests(fishermen) had been offered breakfast early . Scores good as we managed to get parked outside the hotel possible would be tricky in busier times
Tips:Admiral Benbow pub great to eat in Scilly isles a must easy walk from the hotel down to the ship Food in restaurant ok but we like to try different places and Struggled to find other places to eat on first night so definitely book ahead Great fish in restaurants

The room we had was small. The ceiling was low which I had hit my head a few times. There was no lift to our room so moving luggage was difficult. The water pressure was super low I could not have a shower. The ceiling above the bath tub was low so you could only have a shower at the rear of the tub. 29th August 2021:
Enjoyed stay and staff were friendly and helpful. The food both at breakfast and in the evenings were lovely. Only two comments on our stay. One being the limited parking - When booking with Expedia I specifically filtered free parking into my search and the Lugger was included. However we found there is only limited parking. Luckily we managed to squeeze into the last parking space available. The second issue was in the bathroom facilities. We were placed in room 24 - in the eaves of the building. The shower was situated over the bath but was in the angle of the eaves. This meant we either use the shower in one hand and risk getting water all over the place or kneel in the bath to use it as an overhead spray. We chose the latter ; which was both a joke and painful on the knees! We managed however and didn’t ask to change rooms as it seemed to be fully booked during our stay and also the rest of the room was nice.
Tips:The bus service is excellent and worth taking out of Penzance and then walking back from your alighting point. (Warning though - some footpaths are however a bit overgrown ). The Lugger Inn has a good range of meals at reasonable prices.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thank you for the review and we note both issues with parking and the hand held shower, this autumn we are looking into upgrading room 24 and as to the parking we are afraid that we are unable to extend this area, we do state that the car park is limited to x 6 cars on our website.

28th August 2021:
Appreciate that it is busy especially with Covid, but in the interests of info flow i provide the below: On arrival had to wait for booking in assistance. The room was lovely despite the lack of a view. i would suggest that although the wardrobe was large it was too tall. Better to reduce the height and push it against the wall. Room would benefit from a small dressing type table under the TV. the current table is a bedside table and too small for the safe use of the kettle and cups. Breakfast was excellent. i had received an email re breakfast arrangements but these were not adhered to. lastly the hotel was clean and tidy, but was let down by the broken wall coverings along the corridors in several places. shame about the parking, the only negative in our stay. (Drop the kerb, remove the wall and allow cars to have better access and better parking. All the best.
Tips:Superb location on the seafront close enough to town and rail station, plus petrol station and many restaurants covering many food types. Lands end, St Michaels Mount, fantastic scenery, coves, and beach's.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thank you for your review, we note your comments... unfortunately we are unable to nock the car park wall down as the building is in a conservation area which is the same for the whole of Penzance, we do state that parking is of a premium in Penzance and whilst our car park is small it is "Free" we also advise that there is "Free" parking on the promenade which is directly opposite the lugger!

we loved your hotel. The room was fabulous and the staff terrific. We don't know everyone's names but all the bar staff were great, the waitresses, Dawn at breakfast and Clara at dinner (and breakfast) and Dave and Lesley. We will certainly be back.
Tips:The food is great at the Lugger but for other restaurants we would recommend the Navy Inn and the Old Lifeboat Bistro. The Landmark bus is a great way to see this part of Cornwall too. You can jump on and off and get the next bus. We visited Sennen Cove, Land's End, Carbis Bay and St Michael's Mount using the bus.

Don't let the look of the outside put you off, inside was clean and tidy. We had a double room which was ok, the only down side to the room was the en suite, it was very small. It's bed and breakfast and there was a good choice for breakfast. We had dinner there for the three nights we stayed and the food was excellent. Staff were friendly and like every where else they were a little short staffed but coped quite well.
Tips:Plenty of local cafes and inns with cornish pasties and cream teas. St Michael's Mount and local town of Marazion is nice to visit but to view gardens and castle of St Michael's you have to book online, otherwise you would get in. Then there is Land's End and Geevor Tin Mine which we found interesting.

Whole place was fantastic. Staff were so professional & helpful & nothing was ever too much for them in order to make your stay as relaxed & enjoyable as possible. Food was amazing & very large portions. Location was great, away from the hussel & bussel & the view of looking out on the bay was just breath taking.room was beautiful & spacious & very clean. It had everything we needed for our stay. Very bright & it was beautiful waking up in the morning & sitting by the very large bay windows enjoying a hot cup of tea looking out on the sea.
Tips:We traveled all around Cornwall. We did Landsend, Mouse hole, St Ives, Newquay & St Tangel is a must. So magical & breath taking & be sure to go and find the water fall but be sure to wear suitable footwear as it is a trek to the falls. The sea was very cold, however everyone around us were in wetsuits which allowed them to swim etc in the sea so that’s definitely something myself & my other half will be investing in.

The room was a great size as was the bathroom the shower needs a bigger shower head as not very powerful. Great value for the money. Not a lot to do in the area and not many pubs. Nice chip shop around the corner and very nice staff.Need a car to get around to visit local areas.
Tips:Book up the restaurants before you go as mostly booked up. And if you wish to go the local outdoor pool book up online as defo not get in .

The location was great. It was easy for us to go wherever we needed to. The room was large and comfortable, though very warm despite us having the window open. We asked for fans but did not get them. The breakfast was filling and satisfying, and the food in the restaurant was the best we had on our trip, such scrumptious food and large portions. I would highly recommend The Lugger Inn to others coming to Penzance.

The location and the staff are the two greatest assets both being fantastic! It's an old building that does need some investment, such as plumbing and electrics, but one really cannot imagine a better place to stay. The care and attention of the staff is truly 5 star. Breakfast is superb and the restaurant menu doesn't disappoint.
Tips:Penzance is one of our favourite places in the UK. The sea views are spectacular. In all other respects it's a busy seaside town with a good array of shops, pubs, restaurants etc.

The lugger inn is an excellent place to stay; ideally located on the front and close to restaurants and bars and the centre of town. The service was excellent; the staff are friendly and accommodating. We ate here on one night and the food was lovely. If we ever return to Penzance we will stay here again.
Tips:There are many places to see close to Penzance: St Michael’s mount, St Ives, Lands End, Sennen Cove, Porthcurno are just some of the places within a short drive away and also reachable by public transport.

A perfect stay, except that the TV in my room didn't work despite the best efforts of the manager and staff to get it working each day!
Tips:For food I recommend the Taj Mahal Indian restaurant around the corner, and the Turks Head pub. A night walk around Penzance is wonderful - very atmospheric and so quiet apart from the seagulls. For swimming it's best to go to St Ives or Sennen Cove.

We were informed that the Bar & restaurant facilities were closed due to Covid out break. We should have been informed prior to arrival. Room 12 is very small and the water pressure in the bathroom very low especially to flush toilet and have a shower. However staff very helpful and when we did get to use the Restaurant on the last night the food was very good.
Tips:Very good location within walking distance of the town centre, shops and Restaurants.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thank you for the review, we are sorry that the covid shutdown meant that we could not open our restaurant, we hope that this didn't affect your stay with us too much, yes we do experience low pressure for our water is a few of our rooms which is more prevalent when the INN is full... however we are working with a local plumber who is hopefully going to install a pump for this side of the building, we are grateful for your feedback.

15th July 2021:
Although we appreciate it is a difficult time for the travel industry at the moment, this hotel clearly needs investment in it. The plumbing is very poor, we had to swap rooms 3 days into our stay as the shower did not work and a plumber could not be arranged to fix it. We also had no tv for 3 days as the aerial didn't work and the remote control was also faulty. This hotel is clearly a drinking place for the locals and as such felt very crowded at times with "drinkers". Breakfast was excellent, evening meals not so good. Can't fault the staff but as previously mentioned needs a lot of money spent to bring it up to an acceptable standard.
Tips:No hairdryers in the room, lots of stairs, so if you do have mobility issues not great. Limited parking, but still a bonus in this area. Some great local restaurants and places to see, so a good base.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thank you for your review of our INN... we are sorry that we were not up to your expectations...unfortunately during your stay we did have issues with the plumbing and the main aerial however, as Cornwall is inundated at present with tourists we did have to wait for both the plumber and the aerial specialist longer that we would normally... we hoped that by moving you into another room that this would help alleviate the stressfulness of the situation? the aerial specialist did come out within 24 hours and the plumbing issues were sorted the next day too, thank you for the review though we do take on board your comments but both issues were out of our hands as we do not have plumbers or aerial specialist on site.

The location of the hotel is excellent. The rooms are having a superb view and spacious for accommodating two adults and two children.I believe the number of staff are way too less in the hotel to provide room service and there is a lot of room for improvement. The breakfast was awesome and table service was excellent .
Tips:The hotel is excellently located to visit several sights of Cornwall . Nearby there is restaurant named TajMahal which served excellent Indian cuisine.

Owner Response:Thank you for completing a review of our INN... we are sorry that you were expecting room service this unfortunately is not possible especially during the pandemic.... our staffing numbers are less than usual but this is due to lockdowns and re-recruiting has been an issue across the hospitality section... our staffing levels have now increased however, the tourism in the west country is at its highest ever and during this difficult times our job responsibilities has more than doubled... so we have to ask our guests to bare with us as we are doing our very best during such difficult times.

11th July 2021:
On arriving, parking was an issue, which I realise isn’t Lugger Inn responsibility, but we had to park some distance away. The building itself looked tired and in need of a tidy up. We checked in and was asked to pay for our stay upfront, which was a new one on us, but was told that “some people had done a runner without paying” which didn’t add to the feel of the place. We were then showed to our room (24) which was nice and clean but again needed a revamp. There was no shower, so we had to sit in the bath and try and use the hand shower which was absolutely useless as it was impossible to regulate the water temperature which was either cold or scolding. We also had to run the water for ages before it warmed up. The bed was of very poor quality and was extremely soft and in need of a new mattress. The road noise was loud and constant throughout the night, all of which led to very disturbed sleep. Breakfast was superb, as were all the morning staff. They were friendly, helpful and an absolute credit to the Lugger Inn. In fact, all the staff were excellent. All in all, the the Lugger Inn is ok , but with a bit of tidying up and improvement with the finishes and the standard of furniture it could be so much better. But I wish to reiterate that the staff were first class.
Tips:Navy Inn pub just round the corner is excellent. But whatever pub or restaurant you choose, book in advance.
Would Recommend: No
Owner Response:Thank you for your review of our INN... we are pleased that you have given us 3 x 5 and 1 x 4 score out of 5.. we are sorry that the road noise annoyed you the promenade is not usually as busy as it is ... as you are probably aware Cornwall is experiencing a very high volume of visitors this year so it is naturally very busy...Our policy of paying on arrival is not uncommon most B+B's and Hotels in the west country have adopted this procedure, room 24 is in the eves of the INN and has just been re-carpeted and the mattress is new so we are sorry if you felt that it was too soft but we have to cater for all and we chose a medium mattress as recommended by the hotel trade, we understand that the bath is slightly smaller than a normal bath and the hand held shower is mainly to enable guests to wash their hair with, the room being situated in the eves does not allow for a full size stand up shower, the room is however full of character and shall we say a little quirky which most reviews have commented on and have liked.

Lovely situation and good sized room with good amount of tea/coffee facilities. Shower in ensuite had very weak flow. We did not get any fresh towels or room clean during our 6 night stay, I'm not sure if this is something we needed to request due to covid guidelines? Had to request fresh bin bag to empty waste bin in room. Staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast was OK but odd system in place for pre order rather than buffet due to covid.
Tips:Lovely situation right on the promenade with decent parking as the promenade Street parking currently free by council. Great location for touring around West Cornwall (St Ives, Land's End and Lizard point all less than 1h drive)
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Dear guest thank you for the review, yes on check in you should have been informed that we are not allowed to enter your room during the pandemic... therefore any top up of clean linen/towels teas and coffees etc needs to requested and will be left outside of your room for you.... this would also have been sent to you via a covid letter prior to your stay with us... there is also a poster in reception for guests to read the covid instruction during your stay with us, we are so sorry that you experienced this confusion... with regards to breakfast it is quite common place now to have to pre order your breakfast choice the night before.... most B+B's are adopting this system.

18th June 2021:
Shower water pressure too low (almost dripping instead of flowing). When reported to the manager was told that starting auxillary pump might fix it but cannot guarantee in a building 100 years old. Alas, the water pressure still remained extremely low throughout our stay with no intent to deliver a fix by the hotel management. Very disappointing. Other facilities that need improving - bathroom, windows (need replacement locks and double glazing), door locks, mazed hallway which makes it harder to traverse especially during Covid. In summary, Location was good, but the hotel needs major renovation and redesign. Staff at restaurant were good.
Tips:Shower: Water pressure too low(dripping instead of flowing water), making it difficult to have a quick and meaningful shower. Was told by hotel manager that the building is 100+ years old with old plumbing therefore the issue could not be fixed. It would be good if they advertised that the property was run down and 100 years old! Location is on the promenade. However the hotel is in need of major renovation and redesign.
Would Recommend: No
Owner Response:So sorry that the water pressure in your bathroom and the age of the building affected your stay, did you ask at anytime to change rooms? we are aware that some issues with the building are a problem and the water pressure can be effected when we are running at full capacity which we have been since the end of April - we are doing our very best to sort the issue but the building is very old and it is proving difficult - thank you for your comments they are greatly appreciated.

Decent location, for the most part great staff! The beach and promenade are just out the front door. However, parking was difficult to find, we ended up parking in a city parking lot about a 1/4 mile away. The room was fine, although the bathroom was in a rough state - flooring needs immediate replacement, very tiny sink, and an aging shower. The restaurant is ok, although slightly overpriced. Can't recommend the vegan burger or breakfast sausages though, however the full English was good.
Tips:Beachfront property with a beautiful promenade right in front of the hotel, with a quaint high street just around the corner. Check out Mount St Michaels, a 5 minute drive away, and explore the area by car for beautiful vistas and lovely villages.

Our biggest issue we’re the curtains in the room, they were really thin so therefore the room was really light and hard to sleep, we had to go and buy eye masks to help. Overall cleanliness was fine there were a couple of what looked like blood stains on the skirting and door frame in the bathroom. Breakfast was a little chaotic with the waitress trying to guess which table you had been put on rather then looking. Maybe proper veggi sausages (like Quorn) rather then peas and sweet corn in a sausage.

Very good value for money with sea view room, spacious and comfortable. Disappointing not to have hairdryer or tea and coffee facilities in room as other hotels are providing these despite Covid guidelines. Breakfast was very nice, only addition I would make is to offer fresh fruit with cereals or as alternative to them. Enjoyed Sunday dinner in the restaurant, though did feel more staff maybe beneficial as it was very busy in there with people collecting takeaways, other diners and customers eating and drinking outside. The staff did seem rather stretched.
Tips:Hotel restaurant pleasant and Sunday dinner was very nice. Had a lovely evening meal at the Turks Head in Penzance. Tips:Great for access to the Scillonian 3 to Isles of Scilly, just a 10 minute walk. Staff are flexible about checking in and out.

My group are regular annual visitors for a weekend and always enjoy our stay. With the current issues the staff made our stay as comfortable and "near normal" as possible. The changes to all normal access and procedures are all realistic and as inconvenient as possible
Tips:We would recommend the Turks head for local beer and a warm welcome and the Taj Mahal to try Nepalese cuisine and friendly and efficient waiting staff. Both are a short walk from the Lugger. If you like walking Mousehole is a good destination and for the more adventurous you can then take the coastal path to Lamorna Cove and walk back inland.

Everything was perfect, specially the kindness and service of the staff. The room needed a little of maintenance in small things (like hanging, soap holder, shower pressure) but it was in general perfect to enjoy the 3 nights that we were in the hotel!
Tips:Just opposite the sea, the hotel has amazing views and location. You only need to walk 10 minutes to arrive to the train station and also to the shops.

Loved our room.... the view was amazing! Staff were really helpful and friendly. Food was awesome!!!!! Would definitely stay here again.
Tips:We found there wasn't much to do in Penzance itself but it makes a great base to be able to get to various other destinations (St. Michael's Mount, Land's End, St. Ives and Scilly Isles). As for places to eat, there are some great places but this time we chose to eat at the Lugger multiple times.

From the warm welcome to the farewells, we could not fault our stay. The location is perfect, views amazing and we will certainly be back.
Tips:St Michael's Mount, Lands End and Porthcurno are obvious visits. Everywhere is beautiful though! We ate at the Lugger on all but 2 nights, but both times we regretted it. The food was better at the Mugger than at the Turks Head and the Admiral Benbow. There is a very good Indian restaurant around the corner, but we felt it a little small in the current pandemic.

The staff were excellent very friendly and helpful couldnt do enough for you.the room was nice but needs decorating chips on the ceiling and walls paint flaking off not a large amount the shower door when closing you would have to lift it slighly to get it shut properly had to be careful with shower if a tap was turned on else where it would go very hot. very comfortable bed obviously because of the covid they were not cleaning the room or changing towels or bedding unless you were staying more than six days you could ask for towels and they would oblige in the dining area tables were set out for distancing which was good the table we had in the window had paint spots on it also on the window someone had most likely had spaghetti there were some splashes on the window that werent cleaned off dont know how long they had been there the food was well cooked and hot the menu was limited because of getting supplies from local butchers and fishmongers but food was excellent and a good full breakfast but a lovely stay with Steve and his team thank you

Great location right on the seafront. I only had breakfast once because I don't really 'do' breakfast, but it was fine apart from some rancid tinned grapefruit, which the waitress happily replaced. There is a continental 'in room' breakfast tray available as an option, which is handy. View from the room was to die for. My only gripe is that the TV was digital, with some faulty images on some channels, and no BBC at all. As I was alone and not out partying in the evening this was a bit annoying.
Tips:The Lugger itself does a great carvery on a Sunday, which I had on a previous occasion when staying elsewhere. Several very good options very close by: Frasers or the Pirates Rest for fish and chips, and the Taj Mahal for excellent Indian and Nepalese dishes.

We had a brilliant weekend stay at The Lugger. A warm welcome, and an upgrade to a sea view. All the staff were friendly and had a smile, which makes such a difference. Breakfast was excellent and the lady who served us couldn't have been more obliging. We were told it was 'party night' on both nights we were there, so we didn't mind that we could hear the disco in full swing but it didn't disturb us at all, by 1pm all was quiet and peaceful Very comfy bed and a good nights sleep ;-)
Tips:The Lugger is well situated - near to town and near to Newlyn, with loads of pubs and restaurants to choose from. We walked everywhere and it was nice to leave the car in the car park all weekend. Even the jubilee outdoor pool opposite was open if we fancied a swim!

The room was a decent size with good ensuite bathroom (fan operated from switch outside - much appreciated). Beds OK, plenty of towels, coffee/tea making facilities. Only fault is one table lamp with short power cord so could not put it on bedside table. Also, no way to switch off main light without using switch near door. Fine for a short stay, annoying otherwise.
Tips:Lugger restaurant exceeded expectations. Good variety, chef's specials, carvery. Excellent quality food, reasonably priced and good value for wine etc. Service good. Breakfast OK although they forgot to bring our tea. Orange juice from concentrate... We could not get a cab to come and pick us up on Sunday - long delays. Luckily, Penzance train station is only a 20min walk away!

A lovely location, the amazing sea view from a large bay window was dramatically beautiful. The room was spacious and clean, supplied with kettle for much needed tea and coffee, plenty of storage and a tv. The bathroom sadly lacked a complimentary soap/shower gel and the dispenser in the shower was empty. I think for the price I paid for the room this could have been provided. Breakfast was good. I like the fact you can order what you want and my crispy bacon was delicious. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. One evening we ate in the restaurant and must compliment the Italian chef and the owner who I was told made the desserts. The choice was the only problem, the array of sweet puddings all looked great and my taste buds tingled while enjoying my dessert. I would recommend you eat here. In summary a good stay, I will return when I’m in Penzance!

The man that was at the reception (apologies do not remember his name) upon arrival was absolute star! from advising on the touristy things, to help us with the luggage to generally making sure that we were ok, an excellent example of how helpful and friendly a staff at a hotel should be. The room was beautiful - could not ask for a better one! The food in the hotels restaurant (we eat dinner and breakfast) was fantastic and the service was great also! Overall had a great experience and if ever back in Penzance would gladly stay in the same hotel.

Very convenient for ferry to Scilly Isles. Staff very helpful. Rooms lovely and clean, with comfortable beds. Only complaint (and not the hotel's fault!) was lack of parking, but it was a Bank Holiday, live music at the hotel (added bonus!) so plenty of folk there.

All very clean and presentable. Some of the fittings are very cheap and break easily (eg the rail in the wardrobe fell off when I put my jacket on it and the towel rail behind the door in the bathroom fell off when I put my towel on it!! That said, location superb, Atlantic Ale very good indeed, staff very friendly and helpful and all in all I would be happy to stay there again.
Tips:Boat Shed Restaurant is very good. The Dock Inn is an excellent pub for drinkers. The Dolphin is not - it is a restaurant masquerading as a pub.

A very warm welcome late at night as arrived on train from Aberdeen. Very well presented room with all the facilities you would expect. Had Excellent nights sleep and lovely breakfast in the morning. I must travel to the SW again as this is certainly a place that I would have enjoyed staying longer if my circumstances had been different.

A very enjoyable stay the bed was very comfortable and the towels beautifully soft. a few of the fittings were a little tired and in need of attention as well as perhaps more attention to some aspects of cleaning. i.e. if you are going to wipe the dust from the stool, pull it out and do it that way the whole surface will be wiped not just the bit that can be reached. With regard to dinning all was most tasty and plenty of it. Thank you again

The Lugger Inn is a great place to stay. We were met at the door by Alistair booked us in then took us up the room, he carried the cases. The view from the room was second to none. A bay window with two chairs facing out over the sea. The bed was huge and it was really comfortable. At supper that night Roz my wife ordered the sole!! I have never seen such a big one. I had the carvery which was also good with 5 different meats and the normal veggies. We took half the sole with us and had it for lunch the next day. Breakfast was good with cereals and fruit self service followed by a full English brought to the table. I was disappointed with the carved that night. Just reheated food from lunch. Not good. A couple of small gripes - the shelf in the bathroom is in the wrong place and there should be a handle next to the shower to help when you get out. We are definitely making plans to back in better weather.

The room had a fantastic view with seating in the bay window. The breakfast was fantastic, the best scrambled egg I've ever had! The king and double size duvets on our twin beds were a bit unmanageable. The king was draped all over the floor on both sides, a possible trip hazard. We rearranged the furniture as the bedside drawers were wedged between the wardrobe and the bed, making it impossible to open the wardrobe door. The shower curtain was dirty at the bottom and we only had one hand towel. I asked the cleaner for another towel and came back to 2 clean ones, thank you.
Tips:Land's end had a fantastic Aardman Experience if you enjoy Wallace and Gromit or Shaun the Sheep. Beautiful beach at Newquay! Penzance was a good central place to be with easy access to all other places and the added value of free, unrestricted parking right outside The Lugger Inn.

We enjoyed everything about the hotel! The view from Room #17 was amazing. The service and friendliness made us feel right at home from the minute we arrived until we said our goodbyes. The hotel has a homely yet quirky atmosphere that we found quite intriguing. We would certainly recommend it to friends and family travelling to the area.
Tips:We enjoy walking and during our short stay we did quite a lot. The promenade is outstanding and is a comfortable stroll. There are several old churches and plenty of beautiful architecture in the town, just look above the shops and it is there. St. Michael’s Mount is worth a visit although it rained the whole time we were there! St. Ives is a wonderful and interesting spot. We took the local bus to Lands End which was a bus-ride to savour! A large double-decker bus winding its way down road barely wider than the bus itself! Great fun.

We enjoyed our brief stay at the Lugger Inn. The staff we encountered were all extremely pleasant, cheerful and helpful. Our room looked like it has been freshly redecorated in a breezy, cheerful style. The breakfast buffet had a good choice fresh fruit, unsweetened yoghurt and well cooked hot options. Cons: The room was quite small for a double, but it was adequate. The en-suite shower room / toilet was definitely in need of redecorating (the non-ceramic tiling had been cleaned so often the pattern had started to come off). It was, however, spotlessly clean. Our main negative - the Electric shower could not be induced to hold its temperature steady, resulting in a slow drift from entirely cold water to extremely hot, which is potentially dangerous, or vice versa. The shower-head holder was broken and had to be propped up in order to use it. I think this needs to be fixed, urgently. Verdict: The shower apart, this was a perfectly satisfactory stay, and staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

16th April 2018:
We were impressed with The Lugger Inn from the monent we arrived. We had travelled on the overnight sleepter train and got to the hotel at around 8:30am. We were too early for check in at 3pm but were alowed to store our luggage at reception. The lady said that she would have our room prepared first so we would be able to check in at around midday. When we returned, we were greeted by Alistair who chekced us in promptly. He pointed out the dining area and even reminded us to take a noe of the wifi code which was displayed on the wall, so we wouldn't have to come back and ask for it. All areas of the hotel were spotlessly clean and our room was very spacios and comfortable. The hotel was very quiet with no trafic nose where we were. We chose to dine at the hotel restaurant and were very impresed by the quality and value of the food we received. The service was grat with just the right level of interactions from the staff. We were lft to enjoy our meal but staff were close at hand when we needed anything. This was followed by a very comfortable nights sleep. The breakfast was great. Very fresh and piping hot. There was a great selection of hot and cold food on offer. We weren't due to catch our train until 9pm and check out was at 10am. When we asked the staff if we could staya while longer, we were told to stay as long as we needed to and they woudl servie our room later/the next day. The sunday carvary was of a high standard and at a reasonable price. especially given that you can have 3 meats. Overall it was a great stay and the hotel is managed very well. We will deinitely be returnign in the future.

Excellent position right on the see front and had a lovely bay window with a panoramic sea view including St Michael's Mount, to relax in. Brilliant short break and the weather was kind as well, thank you for making us feel so welcome!

2nd stay there and will go back again. Unfortunately I missed breakfast one morning as the restaurant was locked. I understand some refurbishment is on the cards which is good.

The snow and rain made getting around difficult, but the staff and the food at The Lugger made it easy to stay in and relax. The big bay window gave us a great place to sit and watch the tides. The food was fantastic !! The proprietors and staff were very friendly and accommodating. It was a very enjoyable stay and a great place to base your stay in Penzance.
Tips:I recommend staying in room #5 ( The Mullion Cove room ) and trying the Steak on a Stone, where you use a very hot lava rock to cook your steak to your liking. The seafood, of course is always great.

Once again a fantastic stay. The staff, as always were superb. Helpful, cheerful and nothing was too much trouble. We were quite a large party (20 people)but this did not seem to bother them. The food was very good and the carvery was excellent with a great variety of meats and vegetables and the desserts were amazing. Thanks to everyone for all their help.
Tips:As we were in Penzance for a rugby match this was our main priority.
