Lovely stay at The Pendennis. Richard and Sarah are very welcoming and beautifully organised. The room was clean and comfortable and was refreshed every day. They had thought of everything adn were kind enough to lend us cushions to take to The Minack Theatre. Breakfast was really excellent. I heartily recommend this guest house if you want somewhere to stay in Penzance.
Tips:Harris's Restaurant on New Street is definitely worth a visit if you want a high class meal. We also enjoyed the food at The Dolphin pub. Both places are within reasonable walking distance.

Nice to see a photo of the actual room that I would be staying in and not the" best room in the house" photo that is often provided in listings. Breakfast arrangements were especially good-you will get your breakfast somehow unless you really don't want it and they are good too! This is a competently managed B&B.
Tips:I was busy out working and not interested in sight seeing but enjoyed the lovely walk along the seafront to Newlyn and back each day. There are supermarkets within close walking distance, the same for the seafront/promenade and some small parks.

The Pendennis is a very nice victorian bed and breakfast and the owners very pleasant and attentive. The property is in a very nice area for walking around Penzance and there is beautiful parkland around it. My room was very comfortable and a big plus was having a small fridge in the room. I would definitely recommend staying here.
Tips:Easy for walking along the coast/harbour either to Newlyn/Mousehole or back into Penzance. A very nice walk through the park grounds into the town centre. If coming from the railway or bus station, a 20/25min walk to The Pendennis. Plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby for the evening.

Nothing is too much trouble for Richard and Sarah. The rooms are comfortable, always clean and tea/coffee topped up daily. There is a drinks fridge in the room and milk downstairs when you want it. The breakfast is delicious and amply sized! They even provided a bucket and sponge for my husband when they spotted him trying to remove seagull droppings from his car!
Tips:The Lands End Coaster open top bus is a great way to get your bearings and pick out places to visit later or you can hop on and off as you wish! The train ride to St Ives is particularly picturesque as it hugs the coast. The Turks Head public house in Chapel Street was an excellent find for decent homely evening meals. Two ciders to try are Devon Red and The Orchard Thief!

Richard's cooked breakfasts were all delicious. My room was nicely decorated, comfortable and had everything I needed. I look forward to staying again.
Tips:Penzance has so many opportunities for Cornish music (pubs, etc), festivals, theater (Minack and Penlee open air), gardens, art, historic and archaeological sites, restaurants, and so much more both in town and in the surrounding area. Ride the open air on-off bus. Highly recommend the many coastal walks along the cliffs and beaches and getting fresh fish and chips at Fraser’s and eating them along the Promenade.

I had a wonderful stay at Pendennis Guest House. Everything was really thought out, clean to a high standard and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, served with a lot of choice and homemade produce too. During my stay, I was in room number 8 and on the top floor. Being that, it can become hot on the top floor and owners had already thought this through by providing a fan and an air con machine. It’s in a great location and easy walking distance to the sea front. Parking is street parking and it is on a popular road, that is full of other B&B houses. I managed to park outside the B&B with no problems. Thank you for a wonderful stay and I shall definitely be returning.
Tips:Walking (these times all depend on how fast you walk) to the seafront takes 5-7. You can easily walk to Newly in around 20-30mins and further in to Mousehole in a total of less than 1hr and 15mins. But if you are like myself and take your time to take in the views then it will be 1hr and 15mins. There is a Lidl supermarket around the corner, with a fish & chip shop close by and all walkable.

Absolutely brilliant stay at The Pendennis! Communication before arrival was clear and timely re: check-in. The Guest House is located on a lovely street 5 minutes walk from the Promenade and 20 minutes walk to the town centre, bus and train station. My room and the guest areas were spotless and welcoming. I had an ensuite double room which was clean and comfortable with all mod cons, including a super-cute tiny fridge which meant being able to use real milk instead of UHT disposables. The shower was fantastic re: pressure and temperature. Breakfast was delicious with a great selection of help-yourself cereals; drinks; fruit; toast; and toppings, with made-to-order hot choices too. Richard & Sarah were most accommodating with my booking as well as providing a take-out brekkie for an early morning start. Five star accommodation, location and service - I'm already planning a return visit next year :D Many thanks for a fantastic stay *****

I really enjoyed my stay at The Pendennis. It was a warm, comfortable, friendly home away from home. Great choice of dishes for breakfast and always beautifully presented. I found the owners kind, attentive and supportive when I lost my mobile and that they were happy to pick it up and onforward it to me.
Tips:Great jumping off spot for the bus station which took one to many parts of coastal Cornwall. Only a short walk into town along the sea front. I was in Cornwall to track down some forebears, but totally enjoyed all the interesting things on offer. Highlights were the Minack Theatre, coastal walking, Mousehole, St Ives and much more - not to mention a bracing walk to St. Michaels Mount. I had a terrific time - despite the lost Mob.

Sarah and Richard are exceptional hosts. They go above and beyond to ensure you have everything to make your holiday a great and comfortable one. There is an enormous attention to detail. I stayed in the attic room which had a sky-light window. It came with a mini-fridge, teas, coffee, sugar, fresh water, biscuits, etc. These were refilled each day. Fresh towels were provided when needed and my bed was made daily. My room was very cute, clean & tidy. There was an en-suite shower. The breakfasts at The Pendennis are exceptional! I tried a differnt one each day. You can also help yourself to teas, coffees, fruit juice, cereals, fruit & toast in addition to the cooked breakfast. Each day I was even provided with a small bottle of milk to take to my room. Sarah lent me a couple of guidebooks about the local towns & villages nearby. Each morning I awoke to the dawn chorus outside as the street is aligned with trees & many birds nest there. It was sheer bliss. The hardest part of my holiday was having to leave to go home! I could not have asked for more. Thank you Sarah & Richard.
Tips:The coastal walk to Marazion is lovely. There are plenty of seats to sit, relax & admire the coast. You can walk to Newlyn & Mousehole (or catch a bus) - they are right next door to Penzance and are very picturesque fishing villages with a lot of history. I particuly enjoyed going to Tremenheere Gardens - they are just stunning! There are a lot of steps there, so not for the fainthearted. It is over 200 acres. So many exotic trees, plants & just over 40 sculptures. You can see a gorgeous view of St Michael's Mount from there. Only 15-20 minutes from Penzance by bus. You'll need the number 16 & make sure the bus runs through Gulval & Ludgvan. You will need to request Tremenheere Gardens when you get on as the driver does not usually stop there. Morrab and Penlee Gardens are within walking distance of The Pendennis(takes around 5-10 minutes to walk) and are free to get into. They're beautiful and so peaceful. Visit Minack Theatre & Porthcurno Beach. Be sure to book in advance if you intend to visit the Minack as it's a working theatre. This is a truly beautiful & special place with a lot of history. The theatre is built into the side of a cliff. If travelling by bus, you can catch the Land's End Coaster open top bus there. Be sure to catch the clockwise bus to Porthcurno. Praa Sands is a lovely sandy beach with high waves and only 30 minutes away on the U4 bus. Jubilee Lido - Geothermal Pool, Penzance - is very relaxing. It contains seawater that is heated to 35 degrees celcius. Be sure to book in advance as it quickly gets booked up. As for eating out, I enjoyed the food at The Old Lifeboat House Bistro. I had their fisherman's pie & beer battered cod in the evening. The Quirky Bird Cafe (Market Jew St) & Pickles (on the Prom, opposite Alexandra Rd) have a nice lunchtime menu.

We love staying at The Pendennis as it’s so relaxed. We always feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble for Richard and Sarah and they are always very helpful. Tips:Within walking distance or on the bus route are Mousehole in one direction and St Michaels Mount in the other. Train ride to St Ives is a lovely trip. Porthcurno with its Telegraph museum and the wonderful Minnack Theatre is well worth visiting. Fish and chips from Frasers on the seafront are great. We also love Ginos Spaghetti House where the meals are mouthwatering and the waitresses friendly and very helpful.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Pendennis. The location in a quiet, tree-rich street but nevertheless at a 5 minutes walk from the boulevard, supermarket and multiple bus lines (10-15 minutes from the city center) was ideal for me. The owners are very nice, welcoming people, open for a chat if you like, but never intrusive. Their breakfast menu has the widest choice I've seen so far, and all options I tried were delicious and well prepared. The room (very clean, and refreshed daily) had everything I wanted (plenty of storage space, coffee/tea and cookies); the very silent but still highly effective fridge was especially appreciated. If I had to mention one imperfection (just to stay realistic): B&B showers come in a range of qualities, and I've had both better and worse than this one. Got hot quick enough, but temperature fluctuates, and water force could be better (though I've had worse). Still, this is a minor point. I would certainly book at the Pendennis again when in/near Penzance.

Thank you for storing my luggage on the days of check/in and put. Excellent system with the keys and codes for the lockets. The room (I stayed in room no. 1) was the best hotel room ever. Tastefully decorated. Really inviting, cosy and homely. Beautiful bedspread, lovely plant on the table, comfortable sofa and the softest blanket in cupboard. Next to it a sill with a light and a vase with flowers. What a delight. Even the coasters in the room were the prettiest I’ve seen. I loved the teacups in the breakfast room. I loved the chocolate and biscuits in room. Even a little fridge. I didn’t want for anything. Thank you for the thoughtfulness behind everything. Richard and Sarah offer excellent value-for-money, bed and breakfast accommodation. Their experience in the catering trade has stood them in good stead for providing a high level of service and a professional and friendly welcome. We have stayed twice now, both times for two weeks. We have already recommended (and continue to recommend) this comfortable bed and breakfast establishment.
Tips:We suggest you research the types of restaurants and eateries you like before you arrive as we have found that they continually change. We have also experienced that consistency can be an issue as chefs come and go. Please be aware that some “fashionable“ establishments may only offer 125 mls.of “specialist” wine which, in our view, reflects fashion over substance/value for money. Talk to the locals as they know the best places for local entertainment together with accessing good wholesome Cornish fare. Don’t be afraid to try something that may appear to be “a little strange“. Please support the local economy: please buy your produce in Cornwall from smaller local businesses as the standard of local produce is excellent and you will be missing a treat if you bring food with you. Thank you.

We cannot say enough good things about the Pendennis guest house, and our hosts, Sarah and Richard. Our room, number four, was very large with lovely outlook of the neighborhood. The bathroom, though, not huge, is very well appointed, and the shower is wonderful… Especially for tall people like us! Also, at 6‘3“ there are many times I cannot fit on a bed that has a footboard, but there were no issues with that here. At every turn, in every way, our expectations were exceeded during our four night stay. Richard is a former chef, and the breakfast selection and preparation were absolutely 5⭐️+! Sarah has a wonderful attention to detail, with every possible need provided for. Fluffy towels, filtered water in the bedroom, spotlessly, clean room, and restroom, suggestions for dinner, or places to see… it’s a list could go on and on. Also, it should be noted that because we stayed for nights, we also received a discount on the price. I just don’t see any way you can beat this amazing place in this area. Book now!
Tips:Be SURE to visit the Mackerel Sky Bar. WONDERFUL food. Tajmahal has great Himalayan Indian food.

Tips:One of our favorite things to do is walk through Penlee Park over to Chapel Street and have dinner at either the Admiral Benbow or the Turk's Head. The Dolphin Inn at the bottom of the street is good, too. And if you are in Penzance on a Thursday night, you must attend the Cornish session from 8-10 at the Admiral Benbow!

Had a very enjoyable stay, the room was spacious and nicely decorated with a lovely comfy bed so slept well. There was plenty of choice at breakfast including fresh fruit. I opted for the avocado, bacon and poached eggs with toasted muffin from the menu which I'd recommend. Sarah and Richard are a great couple and we're friendly and helpful.

Richard & Sarah make you feel welcome from the first encounter. The fact the setting is an older home only adds to the charm. Of course its quirky, the floors squeak a little, but that is exactly as it should be in this beautiful area of the UK. We stayed 4 nights at the Pendennis as a base for exploring the area, & we are more than happy with our experience. Our ensuite room was large enough for both us, & the bed & pillows were very comfortable. To cap our experience were the breakfasts - in one word OUTSTANDING. We highly recommend the Pendennis & will not bother looking anywhere else should our travels brings us back to this beautiful part of England.

The Pendennis is run by a wonderful and friendly couple, Sarah and Richard, who have taken great effort to make guests feel at home. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was superbly prepared by Richard who was previously a Chef. Parking was easy with ample road side parking on a quiet side of town. Checking is was easy with key code instructions. The dining room is helpful when we needed a place to consume our Cornish Pasties. We did our best to keep the place clean, the way it usually is.
Tips:This property is suitable for those who drive and want free roadside parking. There were also guests who did not drive and managed to travel around Cornwall. Heating was adequate and there was an additional oil heater in case guests required more heating. The shower in our unit was good, but you may need to initially run the water a little longer before the hot water reaches you. Once it reaches you, the temperature control tap works perfectly.

Tips:The Pendennis is well situated in a quiet street near to the beach, prom and other amenities. Unfortunately it was a £10 taxi journey to the railway/bus station. The room was a great size, plenty of space for two people. Perfect cleanliness and all facilities there. Really efficient systems for self check in and no trouble for early and takeaway breakfasts when we needed an early start. The location is ideal - just out of the town centre so fairly quiet, but easy walk to town facilities, and the buses and train station are walking distance as well. This is such a warm and friendly place. The owner-operators are wonderful people. They served great food for breakfast with custom dishes and also good buffet items. The B&B is perfectly located in town to see everything and to take advantage of public transportation. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the bathrooms are modern and spacious. We were very happy with our stay and will visit again! Many thanks to Richard and Sarah, and to the friends we made from England while staying there. They made the trip so enjoyable.
Tips:While in Penzance, get some exercise and take a long walk to Mousehole Beach. The little town and beach are a great attraction. Also, don't miss St. Michel's mount. We love the Turk's Head Restaurant. It was a lot of fun with great, friendly local people. Also, get some really fresh fish (caught that same afternoon) and chips at the Red Lion Inn in Newlyn. We loved walking every day on the boardwalk by the sea and in the flower gardens along the way. Locally nice shops and places to eat, 'the boatshed' has a good range of fish on offer. Some of the pubs operate a booking system even if you want a drink rather than food. Friendly and helpful. We felt very comfortable and safe at The Pendennis. The self check in feature is a great idea enabling fuss free arrivals for both guests and owners. Breakfast is varied, ample and served with a smile, A very relaxed feel to the breakfast room. We found the location perfect. It’s near to the seafront and a flat walk to the bus and train stations.
Tips:The trains and buses are a great way to get about and reasonably priced. A very flat and easy walk to Marazion is a great way to spend a few hours. Concrete path all the way so great for cycling, pushchairs or mobility buggies. Mousehole is a very pretty harbour but if you go by car park in the car park at the top of the hill! Very narrow roads in and out of here! The Dock Inn down by the harbour in Penzance has good home cooked food and friendly staff. We also love Ginos Spaghetti House on the seafront next to The Queens Hotel.

Richard and Sarah are highly committed to what they do and provide an excellent service. Their experience in the catering industry has put them in good stead to provide high standards. They do their best to accommodate their guests‘ needs and make you feel welcome.
Tips:Take the open top bus to Pendeen (Often less crowded than the Lands-end coaster) walk along to the Lighthouse and enjoy the beauty of the coast, it’s inlets, coves and changing landscape. The North Inn In Pendeen has a lovely garden at the rear and serves home-made food, specialities are curries. The lizard peninsula, particularly in spring where the flowers are wonderful. Polgoon vinery is only a short walk away where local produce, wine and light snacks can be obtained. Also, a tour of the vineyard can be arranged. Well worth a visit. Cornwall‘s gardens are beautiful and there are several in the locality. Trengwainton (National Trust garden) can be accessed on foot or by car from the B&B. You pass Polgoon on the way so you could always stop off for a glass of wine or cider en route. Saint Michael’s mount is also accessible on foot along the coast path, as is Newlyn. There are many beautiful coastal walks further afield too. John Beck‘s fish and chips at Carbis Bay are excellent. No booking available, turn up and wait for a table or have a takeaway.

We liked that we could use the breakfast room to eat in with take-aways - not that we had to but it was good to know it was there. We liked all the little touches like eye-masks and earplugs available from Reception and the ready availability of the cute milk bottles from the breakfast room fridge was much appreciated. The best thing though were the absolutely amazing breakfasts! Richard is a superb chef and we ate like kings. Thank you!

we were very impressed with the attention to detail and would have been willing to pay more to stay here. décor was in keeping to a seaside town with relevant pictures/prints. The small extras in bedrooms made all the difference: fresh milk, extension lead to plug mobile charger in, wine glasses, wrapped biscuits, very comfortable beds and whole guest house squeaky clean and fresh smelling. Excellent choice of breakfast and impressive coffee machine with clear instructions, partners veggie breakfast 1st class as well and oat milk options as well. Sarah and Richard socially engaging, friendly and flexible about breakfast: we needed to be out by 8.30 initially and Richard said if you know what you want he will make sure it was on the table for 8am which it was
Tips:Great place to stay if wanting to tour SW Cornwall and have a wonderful place to base yourself. Penzance itself is worth a long weekend, plenty of interest if you walk around, the Grade 2 lido, very mixed types of housing, some very grand roads, huge selection of shops, book a meal in both Admiral Benbow pub ask for table in the captains room as well as another evening in pub in same road Turks Head - oldest in the town. Quayside if catching the ferry to Isles of Scilly is 15 mnute walk and railway station the same.

The Pendennis is perfectly situated for the sea front and the town centre. The Railway and Bus Stations are both within flat walking distance. A warm welcome from the hosts is guaranteed and the house is beautifully clean and well kept. Tea and coffee making facilities replenished daily. Breakfast is extensive in choice and well cooked and presented. Any queries you have will be answered willingly by the hosts.
Tips:Definitely visit the Minnack Theatre whilst here. If visiting St Ives go by train as it is a beautiful route. The Admiral Benbow is a good place to eat because of its decor. It’s inner restaurant is decorated as the inside of an old galleon. Very peculiar but pleasing. Idyllic place! The house is very comfortable in all aspects and very well located in a lovely street. Breakfast is top notch and Richard and Sarah are delightful - they make you feel welcome and work hard to make your stay perfect. Wish we had stayed longer than two nights - I definitely recommend this place!

Great location for travelling to the Scilly Isles and other areas of West Cornwall. The room was lovely with lots of options for drinks including ground coffee and fresh milk; which makes all the difference to a cup of tea. Breakfast was fabulous. We would definitely recommend this great B&B!
Tips:Mousehole is lovely and is easily reached by bus or taxi. The Old Coastguard is great for cocktails and their garden is lovely to sit in and enjoy the sea views. 2 Fore Street is a fantastic restaurant; amazing food in a relaxing atmosphere and the staff were so friendly.

Had a wonderful stay in a beautiful room in a really convenient area of Penzance. Breakfast was amazing with a great menu.
Tips:Unusual to have free parking on the street right outside the guest house. A great walk to St Michaels Mount from Penzance. Mousehole is such a pretty town to visit and only a couple of miles away very narrow roads so I would recommend parking up and walking in or go by bus. Newlyn is also worth a visit. If going to Minak theatre go early as very popular and car park fills up quickly.

This is one of the best B&Bs we’ve stayed in. The room was spotless as was the rest of the premises. The bed was comfortable and large. We made a few requests and they were all seen to with a smile. The breakfast room was delightful and the food choices excellent. We stayed four nights, slept well, ate well and felt very at home. Sarah and Richard are excellent hosts and worked hard to make our stay enjoyable and relaxing. Thank you, we shall be back.
Tips:Good location for walking access to the coast / town. Quiet location with plenty of on street parking (May 21) just outside the house. Try the Navy Inn, beer and food really good (15 min walk). Good road access without going through the town so a good base for exploring all around from St Ives, Totnes, lands End, Lizard etc.

Richard and Sarah were the loveliest of hosts. The hotel was really easy to reach, and Richard’s hospitality was second to none. He really was helpful and supportive when our plans changed last minute and was very accommodating. The breakfast was incredibly diverse and was delicious from start to finish. Sarah was lovely and dished up a heart warming meal. The room was spacious and very comfortable, and had everything you’d need for a short break. With a short walk to the beach, this b&b, with its great amenities, was ideal and am really looking forward to visiting again

Friendly welcome, spotless and very comfortable rooms and a great breakfast; I’ve never seen a more extensive and mouthwatering breakfast menu!! Lovely coffee too :)
Tips:If you like good beer the Crown Inn serves their own Cornish Crown beers which were spot on. The Dock also has good beers. I ate at the Yacht where the service was good and the food ok for pub grub.

Friendly and helpful from the welcome to departure. Covid arrangements excellent and well thought through. Comfortable room and delicious breakfast. Highly recommend.
Tips:Restaurants open were quite few given first evening of lockdown easing but found one around harbour area and there were also a couple of decent looking pubs.
