We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Rosalie House. Liz is a delightful host, a great cook, and the location is in a quiet neighborhood that is still walkably close to everything. We highly recommend Rosalie House and would absolutely stay here again. Thanks again, Liz, for your kind hospitality, Craig and Joyce Jones

we were very impressed with everything we found at Rosalie guest house. Liz was beyond the best hostess. Very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was amazing. Everything was beyond our expectations and we would recommended to anybody looking for place to stay in Penzance. Location was perfect for our stay.
Tips:There is so much to see and do around Penzance that to pick out any favourites is almost impossible. Just enjoy your stay.

Had a wonderful stay. Good choice of breakfast, something for everyone.
Tips:The Navy Inn is worth a visit. Nice food and good selection of drinks. The Artist cafe is also a great place for a coffee and a bite of lunch with nice homemade cakes and lovely sandwiches. The best pasty is from Harvey brothers , the Butchers at the top of chapel street. Get there early as the sell out fast.

Flexibility and friendliness are outstanding. The accomodation is very highly recommended as a basis of high value for everything explorable in the Mount‘s Bay area.
Tips:Explore the hidden paths of Penzance and reward yourself with a feisty fish&chips, a cream tea or a classic dish at the Inns along and around Chapel Street (the Old Town).

Good location on a tree lined street. Close to the prom, local parks and also the town with its many independent shops. The bus and train stations are within walking distance. The guest house is Victorian and retains many original features. My room at the top of the house was of an adequate size with an en suite. It had all you would require for a short break. Housekeeping was done on a daily basis with beds made up and bins emptied. Breakfast could be as small or as large as you want. There was plenty of variety of cold food including a lovely daily fresh fruit salad and there were many options for a cooked breakfast.
Tips:Penzance has plenty of places to eat with an assortment of cuisines at different price points. The best chippie is Frasers on the prom, 2 minutes walk away. It's take away only though. A good bus trip is the Coastliner a partially open top bus. From Penzance bus station, there is a clockwise and an anticlockwise version. One goes via Pothcurno to Lands End and the other goes via Marazion, St Ives, St Just, Gurnards Head to Lands End. Buses from Penzance will take you to Truro with its lovely cathedral, Camborne and Redruth as well as many outlying villages. Penzance has the outdoor Jubilee Pool, one section is heated, but it also has a good indoor pool with reasonable entry costs.

I would highly recommend the Rosalie Guest. My husband and I stayed for four nights in early September. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. It is in an excellent location with plentiful parking on the road outside and an easy walk into Penzance. Liz, the owner gave us great tips for local walks, places to eat and transport.
Tips:The Rosalie Guest house is in an excellent location for walks and it is great to leave the car and use the local buses. On our first day we walked to Mousehole and had lovely cake at the Rockpool Cafe. The next day we walked to Marazion. St Michael’s mount is well worth a visit. Check low tide times if you want to walk over using the causeway. Also we walked from Helston to Loe Bar and then onto Porthleven which is a very pretty harbour town with many places to eat and many artisan shops.

Loved the experience! They make you feel like a family member staying at home. Even though it is a bit of a walk from the train station to the house, there is a bus stop right down the main road near the Lidl which is perfect for moving around using the lands end coaster. I would definitively stay there again if I was going back to Penzance :)

I made a last minute booking but was made very welcome. The room and en-suite were both roomy and quiet (apart from the rooks). I appreciated being able to bring food back and eat in the breakfast room as I was travelling alone.
Tips:This guest house is well placed for public transport, the Penlee gallery and the lovely Morrab gardens. It is also a short walk to the Jubilee pool. A longer walk takes you to the bus station where there are buses to many places of interest. Marazion is a short bus ride and from there you can walk to St. Michael’s Mount. St. Ives is easily reached by train and there is the circular bus which takes you near the Minack theatre. A car is not needed for a break in Penzance.

Really lovely stay at Rosalie Guest House. It’s in a quiet spot in Penzance near to the sea. We had a spacious well decorate room which was immaculate. The breakfast was great and the owner, very accommodating. Would 100% recommend. My only (very minor) suggestion would be to provide an additional smaller towel for people with long hair to use instead of the hand towel or bath mat.

Liz could not have been a better hostess. The room was clean, the breakfast was great quality, the b and b was lovely and Liz recommended things for us to do and see while staying in Penzance. The location is ideal, as it's about a 15 minute walk to anywhere and everywhere. Rosalie Guest House is definitely great value for money and we would stay again in a heartbeat.
Tips:Sukothai thai food restaurant was amazing! And we also ended up buying a few real wool sweaters made by a man named Frank from a shop on Causewayhead. Penzance is a neat place to just walk around and see where you end up!

Rosalie Guest House was a very welcoming place to stay. The owner Liz was a very lovely and friendly woman. The Breakfasts are fantastic, cooked to order, very filling and served hot. My room was very spacious and had a shower cubicle the I'm sure was slightly larger than standard as I found it easy to manoeuvre. The bathroom was a decent size too. Free on street parking is a big plus.
Tips:Within 10 minutes walk there is a nice pub (Bath Inn) that is just off the Promenade. Very close to that on the Promenade is a very good Chip Shop which doubles up as an Ice Cream Parlour. The food was great there. It's 5 minutes walk to the bottom of the road where the seafront is, or, alternatively, if you want the short route into town, Liz the owner will give you the simple directions.

Lovely friendly welcome from Liz on arrival, which was outside normal check in time after weather affected travel delay with Isles of Scilly ferry. Room was clean and tidy with adequate facilities. Sumptuous delicious breakfasts, piping hot and very filling. Ideally located on quiet outskirts of town with easy access to main roads. Ample free on street parking, though beware of the birds if like me, you parked under the trees 💩 got very messy! Overall I’d definitely recommend Rosalie Guest House, would come again.
Tips:A visit to Porthcurno beach is a must do when weather permits. Beautiful beach. Tolcarne Inn in Newlyn serves top quality food though booking is necessary. Not cheap but very nice.

Rosalie Guest House is a lovely place to stay. Liz, who runs the guest house is warm and extremely helpful, with a really well organised system for entry, serving breakfast, etc. Other guests staying at the same time had been back numerous times, which was a great recommendation.
Tips:A simple five-minute walk to the promenade and the sea, or through the old lanes to lovely restaurants such as The Honey Pot (does gluten free) and the theatre. It is all at your finger tips. There is a bus stop at the top of the road, or for further afield, buses at the bus station go all over Cornwall.

Excellent variety of food at breakfast. We would recommend you without hesitation.

A friendly, clean and comfortable base for exploring the local area and such a change from the impersonal budget hotel stay with standard buffet breakfast. Here, a freshly prepared breakfast of your choice makes a good start to the day. Access to a fridge and microwave could well be a bonus for you.
Tips:A short walk to the centre/station/bus station and access to a good number of routes to surrounding sights, towns and villages (If you use the Tin Coaster bus back from the route via Land's End. there is a stop close to the seaward end of the road and, if going to Mousehole, the bus will pick up close to the other end by health centre). Try The Dolphin in Penzance or Mackerel Sky in Newlyn. St Michael's Mount is a good (maybe expensive) visit but, having seen some visitors with problems, you need to be good on your feet or at least not try to go to the top in flip flops! If you are good on your feet, consider the service bus to Pendeen and walk the stunning Coast Path to Sennen Cove (allow 5 hours) and catch the Tin Coaster for a leisurely ride home.

Lize is really friendly and the location great, max 10min on foot to the promenade of Penzance. Giving access to towns around easy on foot or driving around by the A30. The room is cosy and confortable with an amazing breakfast. We had a really great time.
Tips:We tried two of the reommendations for seafood, all really good place for food.

A lovely guest house in a beautiful English house. Very homely feel. Great hospitality and loved the breakfast!
Tips:We loved the walk to Saint Michael’s Mount and would like to walk the South West Coast Path in the future to Land’s End or St. Ives. Mousehole is a cute village nearby and worth the visit. For vegetarian meals, we would recommend The Boat Shed for dinner and The Honey Pot for lunch.

The House is truly more "British" than any of the other places I stayed in my 3 weeks in England. So pretty and idyllic. My impression of Liz the host is as a motherly, benign figure. She cooks wonderful, custom-ordered breakfast, and dutifully cleans up our room. When one of us fell, she did her best to do an emergency bandage, and gave us a walking stick for free to use. We were so touched by her sincerity and kindness. She inspired us to open a guesthouse in future (just a dream for now).

My partner and I recently stayed at Penzance and we had a fantastic time! The location was perfect. Our host Liz was extremely welcoming and accommodating, and her attention to detail really made our stay extra special. Her warm personality and genuine care for her guests really made us feel at home. The breakfast each morning was a real highlight of our stay. Liz served up a delicious and hearty breakfast with a range of options to suit everyone's tastes. Overall, we had an amazing stay at Penzance and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient base from which to explore west Cornwall. We can't wait to return!
Tips:If you are taking a bus to explore during non-season, start exploring from St Ives, as the other route gets busy. Loved Tajmahal for Indian food and Turks Head!

Rosalie Guest House is a gem of a B&B. The location is great- just off the promenade and on a tree lined road with loads of free parking. The room we had (Room 3) was beautiful. Very tastefully decorated, in fact we thought newly decorated, with ample wardrobe and drawer space. The en-suite was great, with a wonderful shower. The room was cleaned daily with new towels every day. The king size bed was extremely comfortable - we slept very well over our whole stay. The breakfast provided was fabulous - a choice of everything you could want - full English, omelettes, all cooked fresh to order, continental… everything is provided and we had access to fresh milk all day every day. Our hostess Liz was amazing. Her local knowledge was brilliant helping us to get the most from our short stay in the area - it felt that nothing was too much trouble. She was a fabulous land lady x All in all, we had a fabulous stay and would highly recommend Rosalie to anyone staying in Penzance.
Tips:Marazion and a walk to St Michaels Mount, walk along the promenade to Newlyn. A quick drive or bus ride to Mousehole. Lands End is worth a look, but feels a little commercialised and expensive. Minack Theatre - especially if you can take in a show. St Ives is beautiful. The Lizard Point too. The Jubilee Pool - either to swim in (you need to book) or to people watch - nice little cafe. Great walking area We ate at The Luggers most evenings- a great menu and really friendly staff

Tips:Good free parking outside which was easily available when we stayed in October. We enjoyed visiting the geothermally heated section of the swimming pool beside the sea. It was 34degrees! Bliss. A really excellent hotel. I have already recommended you to my sister.Only reason location is 4 is slight traffic noise on Alexandra Road. Among my favourite things were: hosts (very helpful, friendly, intelligent). Kettle in room - fitted easily under tap to be refilled. Breakfasts - great selection, wonderful omelettes. Interesting paintings through the house and I found the decor of our room very pleasant - very fresh and clean but not overly modern and sterile.
Tips:I'm from West Cornwall so I'm biassed but ... you can't go wrong if you make sure you visit the coast. Very steep beech at Treen (great cliff walks), family friendly beach at Sennen. Little cove at Lamorna. Land's End is a bit of a money-making theme park - best avoid. Doing short stretches of the coast path is wonderful but beware sections can be steep or stony, need good footwear. We had a very good meal at an Italian resaurant on the front - didnt look much but the food was actually very nice. But basically just enjoy the place.

The staff were all helpful and the breakfasts were substantial. We would recommend a stay here.
Tips:The Rosalie Guest House is located slightly out of Penzance centre but walkable along the sea front to many restaurants and pubs. Penzance has some old and quirky pubs which are worth a visit including the Turks Head and Admiral Benbow. Great base for driving out to see the area and do walks along the Coastal Path. If you can co-ordinate a trip with the tide - a visit to St Michael's mount is definitely worth it.

The owner, Liz, was very friendly and welcoming and had good measures in place re Covid, ie hand-sanitiser before entering the property, temperature check and well spaced out breakfast tables. B&B is approx 10 minutes to the town centre and pubs and only a few minutes’ walk to the seafront. Good location and good value. Good breakfast. Room 4 a little small but quiet and comfy bed and pillows. Would recommend.
Tips:We stayed in Penzance mainly as a base to visit surrounding areas - St Michael’s Mount, Minack Theatre and Kynance Cove are all must sees! Some places were quite busy but visited Helston which is a small, quaint town and had a lovely cream tea and was quite quiet. In appreciating we're trying to avoid the spread of Covid, breakfast at 8am whilst on holiday is just not on for me. It's the only time I get to relax and lie in, so for me this was a major negative
Would Recommend: No
Owner Response:Thank you for your feedback regarding breakfast. Now that we are established into a good routine with all the extra measures in place I have made the breakfast times later on week-ends. It has been a challenge to ensure we provide the social distancing during breakfast this is why have to provide two sittings and unfortunately if you are later checking in we can only offer the slots that are left! We hope that you still enjoyed your visit to Rosalie House

Mine and my partners stay was wonderful and enjoyable! Liz was so lovely towards us and very helpful! One morning my partner was still asleep and didn’t come down to breakfast and liz kindly offered to still make it for me to take it up to him which I thought was very thoughtful. With the circumstances of covid, liz did her very best to make sure everyone was welcome and had everything we needed.
Tips:Liz will give you a list of different places to eat and do, but whilst we were there we took a trip to lands end and at Michael’s Mount. We wanted to go for a walk around the gardens but unfortunately didn’t get round to it but it’s worth it.

Owner Response:Hi and Thank You for your review. Our location is just 10 mins walk from the town centre and 5 mins to the sea front on Alexandra Road which is the main Accommodation Road in Penzance. We are a small Friendly Family Run Guest House, not a Large Hotel with extra Services/facilities. We aim to provide a warm welcome with clean relaxing accommodation and a nourishing, healthy breakfast. Unfortunately during these uncertain times we have to social distance and therefore we cannot provide the personal touch we normally like to provide but our main most important endeavour is to keep all our guests SAFE.

Breakfast was cooked to order and always piping hot. We arrived before check in but Liz kindly let us into our room as it was ready. I would recommend the rosealie, parking is on the street but it's free.
Tips:The rosealie is between st Michael's mount worth a visit although if you want to walk round you need a ticket and you need to book online unfortunately we didn't know that. There are some lovely coastal walks too worth doing, the swordfish pub in newlyn is very nice and the red lion has a pool table and does food.

27th March 2020:
My stay at Rosalie Guest House was outstanding. Liz is an amazing hostess--thoughtful, kind, patient, warm, considerate. My room was everything I needed, a wonderful cozy refuge at the end of the day. I'm not usually a big eater of breakfast, but the cooked breakfast was lovely and the fruit, yogurt, cereal and abundant tea were great. Fresh oranges squeezed on the spot for juice! That's an example of a special touch that makes Rosalie B&B a delight.
Tips:Rosalie is handy for the lovely parks--Penlee (with its wonderful little museum and cafe) and Morrab Gardens--as well as just for walking around Penzance. Close to everything, a great town to explore on foot! A couple of great restaurants very nearby are Thai Moon (a family-run Thai restaurant) just down Alexandra Rd near the Promenade, and Fraser's Fish and Chips, just along the Prom.

Liz was extremely welcoming, approachable, helpful & friendly. Rosalie House is very easy to find. Our whole experience from initial enquiry through to leaving Rosalie House was efficient and seamless. We also thoroughly enjoyed our delicious breakfast & really felt at home. Thank you.
Tips:We stayed over due to Cornish Pirates rugby match; the ground is just down the road! Perfect! We arrived a couple of hours before the match, yet still managed to park almost right outside the guest house. We've been reliably informed that Pirates Rest chip shop served the best fish & chips. They were closed when we went, as it was Sunday & out of season. Food-wise, bear in mind that most pubs serve food only during the holiday season. We ended up in Wetherspoons (was fine) to eat; again, this was due to it being a Sunday in January.

We did find both the mattress and pillows on our bed lumpy&hard and in need of replacement. Also, when staying for only 2 nights, there was no place to have your suitcase open 'to live out of' unless it was on the bed...possibly, less furniture in this room to accommodate a couple of collapsible suitcase stands.

Apart from Lands End and the South West Coust path, which was the highlights for us, there are many other things to discover, such as the many Celtic relics such as Stone circles, quoits and standing stones, you must see the tin mines Geevor and Botolack. Our tip: book tickets for the Minack Theater before, all events were completely sold out - it's worth it.

Tips:Look in the little guest guide, there're plenty of recommendations. We tried the Sukothai Restaurant and the Pirates rest fish & chip-shop - both very good. If you wanna hire a bike, there's a very friendly bike hire across the road.

Thank you for accommodating us. Its a shame I had to leave early due to a family emergency. A very small issue you might like to consider. Our mattress was uncomfortable. It has a ridge in it, so you might like to consider either turning or replacing.
Tips:This is a well situated guest house, with adequate street parking very close to the seafront. Breakfast was plentiful and lots of choice. There is a one hour window 8-9am for breakfast. This may not suit everyone. The bathroom was along the corridor from our bedroom. This was fine for us, but may not suit everyone.

Tips:The Indian restaurant down the street at the corner was very good. A bit hard to find, but nice. Parking is along the street in front of the guest house. We missed out on some more exciting activities, but really appreciated having a quiet place to get well.

Enjoyed our short stay. We were able to change our booking to the night before when we had to come back from the Scilly Iles a day early due to the weather. Owners were vey friendly and helpful. Easy free parking on the street outside. Breakfast room could be used for eating take-away meals with plates, utensils and make your own drinks available.
Tips:If you order a meal from the local Chinese restaurant and get the meal delivered get the delivery man/woman to ring your mobile when he/she arrives. We almost lost our meal because no-one responded to the door bell. Would recommend the Lugger Inn for a meal on the sea front nearby.

We enjoyed our stay at Rosalie Guest House. Our room was nice and comfortable. The location was within easy walking distance of some nice restaurants and the sites of Penzance, including the harbor area and a grocery store. We enjoyed the breakfasts. The WiFi connection was not as good as we would have liked. We had a “private bath” (which means it was exclusively ours but was reached by walking down the hall) and that arrangement turned out to be perfectly acceptable and not a problem at all.
