13th June 2025:
We had a wonderful stay thanks to our hosts Claire and Kevin. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they provided great insights about the local villages and what to see and do! We had a great start to the day with a delicious home cooked breakfast! Claire was able to trouble shoot all of our needs with a smile!
Tips:There are so many things to see and do in and around Penzance. You are spoilt for choice for dining options in and around Bay Lodge. The sights are spectacular too from St Michael’s Mount to Lands End and the harbour towns of Mousehole and St Ives are well worth a visit.

Claire and Kevin are excellent hosts, very friendly and gave great recommendations for local pub restaurants which we used 😋. The breakfast choice was both superb and cooked to perfection thank you. Would definitely stay here again if returning to Cornwall. Would happily give you 100% recommendation - enjoyed our stay immensely.
Tips:The Longboat pub restaurant is a short walk away for evening meals and gives reduced price menu for Golden agers😊 Highly recommend the Dolphin on the Harbour for it's charm and cream teas! Ideally situated for The Minnack Theatre - only 25mins drive away.

Claire the host was awesome as she made me feel so welcome. It was more like home than where I actually live. If you had any dietary requirements she would take it on board. Kevin who cooked the breakfast did the best breakfasts I have ever had. Bay Lodge is the best hotel to stop at as they are both going above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect.
Tips:Wow lots to do and Marizion was a lovely walk along the beach. Buses are just a walk away so a bus ride to st Ives and st just are a must. The longboat to eat and just have a cuppa tea is a wonderful place but keep in mind if football is on , it’s packed .

21st May 2025:
A great location, not right in the middle of town, about 10 minutes walk from the rail and bus station and town centre. They offer a daily refresh of the room, but we were fine for the days we stayed. Breakfast was filling, and how you like it. You can vary an English breakfast, have an omelette, or toast with spreads or have contintental. Generous juices and hot drinks. Vegetarians and vegans can be catered for.
Tips:The Turks Head has huge fish and chips, but quite expensive. The times and opening hours of restaurants is unusual around Penzance and other towns, we tried to go to a highly rated Indian, but they were not open on Sunday afternoon. The Tremenheere Weatherspoons had surprisingly good, cheap food if you are on a budget. Head to nearby Newlyn to the Mackerel Sky Seafood Bar for fresh fish dishes. Delicious! and great for a fancy lunch!

We received a warm welcome at the guesthouse and there was a lovely breakfast every morning. The room was comfortable and it was an easy walk from the train station and near a bus stop because we came without a car.
Tips:Good restaurants in Penzance and close by St Michael's mount and some lovely gardens.

Tips:The location was perfect just a 10 minute walk from the railway station, also a 10 minute walk or a few minutes drive from a tesco supermarket As I travelled overnight I was able to leave my luggage first thing in the morning and make the most of the day Nice walk along the coastal path to St Michaels Mount

A warm welcome, spotless room and delicious breakfast.
Tips:I regularly stay for work purposes. I can recommend several local pubs for great food: The Mexican at Longrock, The Ship in Mousehole and if you’re on foot, The Longboat is just opposite the station, a short 5 minute walk away. Make time to visit St Just / Cape Cornwall too.

Clare and Kevin were very friendly and made my stay very comfortable. The accommodation is very clean and the location is great with sea views. The breakfasts were delicious with various choices to suit everyone. They were happy to give advice on where to visit locally. I hope to return for another visit.
Tips:Had a fantastic meal in The Cork & Fork restaurant. The lemon sole was so tasty. The staff very friendly. Visited Mousehole, which is easy to travel to on the local bus. Very picturesque with a few shops and eateries. Also wandered around Newlyn which had more to see. Then walked back to Penzance via the promenade on the seafront.

I stayed as a solo traveller and found the single room perfectly adequate for my needs. There is a delightful small balcony area with a bijou table and chair, so one can sit outside in privacy with a glorious view of St Michael's Mount. The breakfast food was exemplary. I could have stayed a fortnight and had a different cooked meal every day, all to a very high standard. Easily accessible from the station by taxi or bus: about 10-15 minutes on foot.
Tips:It is possible to take a day trip to the Isles of Scilly, but I was advised that it may very well be necessary to book ahead. The lovely lido, the Jubilee Pool, is well worth a visit even if one is not swimming but just sun bathing in a deckchair.

Hosts were fabulous. So friendly. Room was as described and exactly what we needed for the one night. Breakfast room and breakfast set up was really top class. Even real proper milk supplied for your bedroom, kept in a fridge. Perfect. If I was to give any feedback, the bed was very squeaky and the bath towels could be a bit bigger. There is literally nothing else that needs to change. Thank you for a lovely stay.

I can not think of the perfect word to describe Bay Lodge. It is airbnb yes but the room we had is like a home. I had a good sleep. The lady is very accommodating. We came by bus and we arrived so early like 7am. They allow us to drop off our things so we do not have to roam around with it. For 3 person the room is really spacious and en-suite. Breakfast have choices of continental and english. We have only tried the continental and it is filling. It is definitely very recommendable.
Tips:Near the train and main bus station 8 mins walk.. There is a bus stop nearby like 2 mins walk. Shops and restaurants are also 8 to 10 mins walk. To roam around for the day with bus buy the day pass. It is cheaper than 4 single bus fare.

Tips:We ate at the Longboat just five minutes walk away. Also I highly recommend The Admiral Benbow in the town. An amazing and fascinating pub with good food and friendly service. There are good bus services to Mousehole, Newlyn, St Ives and many other Cornish towns. Much more relaxing than driving and you can enjoy the views on the way.

Clare and Kevin, thank you so much for your good care! We found Bay Lodge very welcoming and friendly. You went out of your way to assist us with everything we needed. Due to the fact that our car had broken down we had to make due without but fortunately, there's a bus stop at 2 min' walk which took us to Marazion for our trip to St Michael's Mount. We would have liked to be closer to the Penzance boardwalk but this was mainly due to the fact that we did not have our car. Breakfast was great and your sunny, positive vibe got us in a good mood for the day immediately. The room was simple but spotless. The beds were rather soft but we didn't have any back pains regardless. We appreciated being able to store our luggage until the taxi arrived to take us to our next destination and the system with the key code worked perfectly. We really loved our stay and would certainly recommend! A big THANK YOU from sisters Ingrid & Lutgart. Take care and all the best! The only thing we regretted is that there is no place to sit, outside of your room, but in the end we were only there to sleep so it was no big issue.
Tips:Take the bus to Marazion instead of the car if you want to visit St. Michael's Mount. Don't miss the Minack Theatre at Porthcurno!!!

Recently stayed at bay lodge while competing in a local race man vs coast. Breakfast was amazing both mornings and definitely helped me fuel up and recover from the race and i could not have asked for a better place to stay. The owners were very warm and welcoming and made the stay a great weekend. Will definitely look to return next year. 5*
Tips:The location was ideal for me, the train station was only a two minute walk and was not to far from the start of the race. You are right next to the sea and the beaches and views were amazing. Shops, pubs and supermarkets were all a short walk way. Highly recommen.

We were well taken care of at the Bay Lodge, with a very personal touch of kindness and support. The only thing I would say is the room was tiny, and a bit crowded. To say the room was for 2 adults and as many as 2 children is ridiculous. The presence of the second, trundle bed, made the already small room much too tight. Otherwise, it was a good place to stay.
Tips:Definitely take the Coaster bus that explores all the coastal areas along through Lands End and beyond. An experience that is worth while - although watch out for tree branches if you are sitting on the top level in the open!

Can't fault this lovely b&b. You'll get a warm welcome from hosts Clare and Kevin, who are happy to share their wealth of local knowledge and are always up for a chat. Breakfasts are amazing - the full English is a real gut-buster, but Clare is happy to tailor breakfast to whatever you want - cereal, fruit and yoghurt are standard and of course bottomless tea or coffee pot. Rooms are refreshed daily - if you wish - and the bed was super-comfortable. Daily fresh towels are a treat that you don't normally get in hotels these days. But here nothing is too much trouble. I can't wait to go again next year. Highly recommended!

Bay Lodge is a delightful little hotel, very conveniently located near to bus and train links, in Penzance. Clare and Kevin could not do more to make my stay enjoyable, and the cooked breakfasts were wonderful. I would have no hesitation in recommending Bay Lodge to anyone visiting Penzance.
Tips:Masses of things to see and do in Penzance and west Cornwall, so difficult to recommend specific things. I really enjoyed the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, which are only a short distance outside of Penzance but do not seem to get the promotion that I think they deserve. The sculptures are delightful and there are wonderful views of Mounts Bay. Penzance itself is quite pleasant, and overshadowed by nearby St Ives. There is a historic walking tour of Penzance which really shows it off to its best. The cinema is a nice touch, and has a variety of up to date films to view. The bus network is excellent and the £20 7 day pass is worth every penny. In terms of places to eat out, I did not visit too many places, but Little India near the train station was an excellent Indian restaurant.

Excellent location - on site parking, raiway station and bus stops nearby. Fantastic hosts - Lovely view. Superb Breakfast. Highly recommended - would stay again.
Tips:This is a good location to visit Penzance itself, St. Michael's Mount, Mousehole and Newlyn to name but a few by walking or bus. St.Ives is a short time away by bus or train. If you go by train - suggest you get off at Carbis Bay and walk into St.Ives which should be manageable for most.

On arrival I was greeted by Clare who was very friendly and helpful and there was plenty of parking attached to the building. Covid safety measures were evident and efficient with hand sanitisers in prominent positions. My room was clean and comfortable with a balcony and sea view, there was a fold up chair and table in the wardrobe but weather was not good enough to use. There was a small fridge in the hallway outside the bedrooms with small bottles containing fresh milk, with tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast had 3 sittings , 7am continental, 8am and 9am cooked and also there was an option of an evening meal with prior booking. All food was cooked perfectly by Kevin, with a wide selection on the menu and if you wanted anything off the menu Clare and Kevin would go out of their way to provide it.
Tips:The B&B is perfectly placed, close to main road routes, coastal path, next to Penzance train station and beach, major supermarkets, within walking distance of Penzance Town centre and Marazion with St Michael's Mount.

The ONLY suggestion I might have is to have a spare blanket or two in case people get cold? It was such a wonderful stay so I feel bad making a suggestion--please don't think I'm being critical! I only add it because I woke up in the middle of the night a few times and was uncomfortably cold. Other than that I really did loved my stay. I booked a room at short notice and was contacted quickly and efficiently by Clare about check-in arrangements. On arrival I found the room to be in immaculate order, and the tray of tea, coffee and biscuits was a nice touch. There's free wifi and a flatscreen TV in the room. Clare also gave me some tips on where to eat locally in the evening. I should probably have left some more room for the vegetarian English breakfast the next morning, which was colossal and set me up very nicely for the rest of the day. My en-suite shower room used refillable soap and shampoo dispsensers, minimising single-use plastics, unlike many other hotels and B&Bs - it would be great to see this extended to the breakfast area too, with pots of jam etc rather than plastic sachets. But otherwise my stay was impossible to fault, and with on-site parking and a great-value room rate, I have no hesitation in recommending Bay Lodge and hope to stay again next time I'm down in Cornwall.
Tips:Some excellent walking routes and also birdwatching opportunities locally, including the Hayle Estuary, Lelant Saltings, St Ives Island, Porthgwarra and the valleys on the extreme west coast.

Exactly what I needed. Convenient location, with parking. Nice room, excellent breakfast, super hosting - made to feel welcome! Would book again without hesitation.
Tips:Dined at 'The Long Boat' on the first night - within walking distance, good pub food, friendly staff. Went for a wedding so didn't get time to look round a great deal, but it's definitely worth another trip to do more sightseeing. Visited St Levan, and Church Cove was really pretty (but you need to be agile for the pathway down!) Easy drive to Newlyn, but if you like walking that's the way to do it. Ate at the Gurnard's Head after the wedding - in the middle of beautiful nowhere - excellent food. Lanes to the coast are often single tracked, and you can do a lot of reversing and 'negotiating' with other drivers - worth it, though, but don't be in a hurry!

Run by a genuinely lovely down to earth couple. As a single traveller I was delighted that the single room at Bay Lodge actually had the best view of the sea via a little balcony for which there was a folding table and chair, found in the wardrobe. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts from providing vegetarian breakfast, a packed lunch for the train journey home or letting me sit in their own private garden to catch the last rays of sunshine when the balcony was in the shade.

Claire & Kevin were brilliant hosts, very friendly and helpful. Lovely comfortable room with bed we could have slept in all day! Fantastic breakfast with plenty of variety on offer. Close to main road and bus rout and just 15min walk from train station, but still pretty quiet. Will be back!
Tips:Penzance town centre just 15min walk away. Supermarkets just up the road. Harbour same distance. You have to walk up the road to the left a little way to find a footbridge that takes you over the railway and straight onto the coast path.

· For a B&B it ticked all the right boxes. Easy to find. Ample parking. A lovely welcome from Kevin and Clare. First impressions, externally a smart, well maintained property. Inside clean and inviting. Our room was comfortable and cosy. Everything we needed was there and everything that needed to work worked. Comfy, clean beds. Tea & coffee facilities. Full breakfast options and the cooked brekkie was first rate. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We arrived as customers and departed as friends. Thank you Clare and Kevin.
Tips:The Admiral Benbow pub. Has to be seen to be believed. The Egyptian house has an interesting frontage. Lots of antique shops with some amazing preloved jewellery at good prices. Easy reach of St Michaels Mount at Marizion. A number of other interesting places to visit all within easy reach.

lovely, friendly, welcoming, caring people who make you feel really comfortable and at home. They are always helpful with excellent manners. They set a very good example of how to treat guests.
Tips:We would highly recommend the Marine Discovery boat trip on the pier of Penzance; if you're fortunate like us, you will get to see some lovely dolphins, seals and many other marine life, plus spectacular coastline views etc. We would also recommend purchasing a day bus pass which you could buy on the bus itself at the bus station directly in front of the train station which is only five minutes walk from the Bay Lodge; and leaving early in the morning to places like St. Michaels Mount in Marazion - which is an island in the sea, if you go there when the tide is out, you can actually walk it all the way across to the mount, which is what we did and it was lovely. We would also recommend visiting St. Ives up north, it has a beautiful beach and amazing views, a lovely day out, and plenty to eat. There are also many beautiful places to visit in Cornwall like Cape Cornwall, St. Just, Pendeen, and Land's End etc; all with lovely scenery and it's own unique beauty.

Tips:I can recommend Hellys restaurant just round the corner from the station, the food and service were excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There are boat trips to the Isles of Scilly, helicopter not recommended at the moment as there is no return trip on the same day. Cornish Oven pasties are the best ones to try.

Our host at Bay Lodge Neville was very helpful and friendly. He is also a terrific breakfast chef! Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet and provided in- room tea, coffee and hot chocolate ( very welcome after a day of site seeing.) Although Bay Lodge is a 12 minute walk from the centre if Penzance I would stay there again. It is far enough away to avoid the " Pirates of Penzance!"
Tips:Sadly there are no restaurants close to Bay Lodge. We ate at the Longboat and really enjoyed the nearby Indian restaurant Up the hill near the statue is another busy, we'll run restaurant where we ate twice. Yummy! Get a bus pass and get out. We bought a weeks pass for our 5 days in Penzance and used it daily. The information Center near the Rail station has great ideas for Day trips

The owners gave us a very warm welcome, catered to every need. Ready to give useful information when asked. Absolute cleanliness and comfortable rooms. Single room, albeit quite small, has everything you need including a lovely balcony with sea and Mount view. Set back from the road, with its own garden, bay lodge is minutes from train and bus stations, with bus stops at 3 minutes walk. Excellent choice of food for breakfast. Charming, and cheerful. I would definitely stay there again travelling on my own too.
Tips:Newlyn - hub for artists - crafts courses at gallery. Numerous excellent eateries plus film house. Penzance - The Exchange, Penlee House and numerous good eateries ie The Bay. Marazion. A lovely promenade walk. Mount st Michael. Minack Theatre. Bus trips to Land's End, St Ives. The list is long. Take the open double deckers when you can. Breathtaking views and such fun.

we were delighted with our short 3 day stay, very friendly owner with plenty of information. Breakfast was great. Very quiet even if it was near a main road as its in a terrace. Even had a lovely garden so one could relax in and good parking.
Tips:If one does not have a car its ideal as the bus stops just a minutes walk away. Lovely location as one can walk to the Mounts Bay and Castle and town is only a ten minute walk. Only negative is the bathroom is a bit small, it did not worry us but if one is a big person may find a bit difficult.
