16th July 2021:
it is a delightful setting. We were made to feel most welcome and almost part of the family a long with the 2 ponies, dogs and cats. Breakfasts were excellent!
Tips:Bewares the access road as it gets narrower and narrower! The turning at Newlin across the main road has to be believed as is the steep clime up the hill.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Yes the hill up from Newlyn can be a bit tricky in the height of the summer but as long as you take it easy it is pretty much ok. Our road is narrow but plenty of passing places. It really is a delightful setting. Nick.

Lovely stay for 3 nights, fantastic breakfasts and superb hosts. Highly Recommend.

Owner Response:Thanks for your review. We mostly get 5* for location perhaps the narrow Cornish lanes are to blame for your 3*. Anyway thanks for your recommendation. Nick

31st May 2021:
A really nice family run business, out to help or to give guidance when needed. Poor Wifi, but then who needs it on holiday. If one finds it essential, there is better reception in nearby Newlyn and Penzance.
Tips:Kings Arms at Paul served good pub meals, service could be abit slow at times, and OK at other times. Disappointed with Logan Rock Inn. As a change from fish at mealtimes once went to Chinese "Sea Palace Chinese Restaurant" in Penzance. Excellent area for coastal bay walks,; A trip to Geevor Tin Mine and a sea trip on Marine Discovery, Penzance are well worth visiting for things to do.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thanks for your helpful review. Yes the WiFi isn't great but is good enough for emails & using Google etc. The Logan Rock pub has very mixed reviews, we went there about a month ago at lunchtime & it was very good for food & service but other guests have been disappointed. Nick

22nd May 2021:
We would like to thank Nick & Val for information regarding places of interest and route suggestions
Tips:Must see Minack theatre and surrounding coastal walks Good meal at ship in Mousehole but very difficult to park Unfortunately would have liked to walked from accommodation but weather prevented us exploring Lamora Cove.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thanks for leaving a review. Have to say disappointed with 3/5 for facilities as I don't know what else we could offer to make that a better score? Fibre broadband I guess together with a good mobile signal neither of which we can affect sadly. Also 3/5 for service & staff is disappointing especially as that is me. Anyway such is life & who Val is I don't know! Nick

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Castallack Farm. We felt very well looked after and made to feel at home. More importantly for us the host was extremely good at maintaining a safe environment for our stay. Couldn’t fault our stay and I can be picky.. already recommended this place to friends!
Tips:The Host is brilliant for advising where to go and eat and has his finger on the pulse with what is happening where!

Wonderful and welcoming hosts, rooms are delightful, sparkling clean and well equipped. Breakfasts are magnificent, with a really good focus on local produce and delicious ingredients.
Tips:West Penwith really is the end of the land, so take time to explore on foot and enjoy the unspoilt lanes and beautiful sea views around the place.

We stayed for three nights just after the lifting of lockdown and felt very happy with all the precautions which had been taken. We had a good stay with a comfortable bed, friendly hosts and good breakfasts. A very pleasant and peacful break.
Tips:We ate at three local pubs, the Kings Arms, Paul, The Ship Inn, Mousehole and The Logan Rock Inn of which we enjoyed the last the most and would recommend it. The Ship was also good with lovely views over the harbour.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:It is always good to hear about good places to eat that we may not have been to for a while. The Logan Rock has always been a favourite of guests for it's friendly welcome & good food. Glad also you were happy with our precautions due to COVID.

Many thanks for such a warm welcome despite our late arrival. A lovely cosy room and very tasty breakfast, which set us up for the next day of our walk along the South West Coast Path.
Tips:Castallack Farm is not far from The Lamorna Wink, which is a short 10-15 minute walk downhill.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thanks for your great review. Much appreciated. We are about 15mins walk away from the Wink & many guests walk there. Easy 10-15 minute walk there with a bit longer on the wayback due to going uphill!!

22nd September 2019:
Lovely farm property in idyllic lush green surroundings, close to Lamorna. Very welcoming with tea and cake for weary hikers. Breakfast next morning was top notch. For those hiking the SW Coast Path, be aware the farm is located a good 2.5 kms (mostly uphill) from the path.
Tips:Avoid the Shipp Inn pub for food, as it is very mediocre at best. The Lamorna Wink is closed Mon and Tues, so there was little choice but to go to Mousehole for dinner. The 2 Fore Restaurant around the corner looked like a much better place, but was full.

The Farm was one of the most wonderful places that we stayed. Every single part of it was PERFECT. The entire experience was such a treat. We loved the farm it was gorgeous we were able to see the animals, walk the premises and just plan relax in style and comfort. We were traveling so we only wish we had booked a few nights in a row.
Tips:We rented a car and the road around the Inn are small and rather dark. We brought our dinner in and stayed tight for the night. There was a lovely courtyard and we dined alfresco with the sound of a bubbling fountain and some curious koi.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thank you for your great review. So pleased you enjoyed your stay. We get many guests saying they wished that they had booked for longer. It's tricky because you don't want to commit without experiencing & by the time you find out that it was a great place to stay it's too late.

It is always lovely to return to Castallack Farm. Thankyou too for your warm welcome, as always. Beautiful breakfasts, very comfortable room and beds.
Tips:No,2 Fore street Mousehole is very good, also The MacKerel sky in Newlyn is lovely, seating outside if it is full inside.

Poor internet reception.
Tips:Polgoon Vineyard is well worth visiting. Lovely lunch and wine tasting and no pushy sales people. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thanks for your review. Yes internet speed is an issue in West Cornwall & of course those places that can offer peace & tranquillity off the beaten track are often off the beaten track for high speed/fibre brpadband. We are looking at Satellite but it can be patchy.

We are always made so welcome...it has become just like family!
Tips:Pemlee Art gallery A small gallery focusing on artists who have been in Newlyn and Lamorna for a time. The Kurt Jackson Art Gallery in St. Just. Again a very small but very different gallery. Good eating in St. Just.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thanks for your review. Glad you feel at home here. The Kurt Jackson gallery in St Just is quite different & the prices reflect that. The dog & rabbit is a favourite cafe of ours & is in St Just. Well worth a visit.

20th August 2019:
Nick and Rachel have a beautiful b&b , they made us welcomed we cannot fault anything about our stay the room was very very clean bed comfortable , breakfast was superb and catered for my husband and friend who are celiacs which is amazing . Situated in a area very quiet for a relaxing stay , with plenty of walks and scenery to take in . We look forward to a return in the future.
Tips:As my husband is celiac the fish and chip shop in Penzance (frazers) was fantastic . To get away from the crowds we visited Cot valley , and penberth beach and of course portcurno beach below Minack theatre . We visited st Michaels mount but in August it was to busy so many children and holiday makers so you did not really appreciate the mount , quieter times in winter is better .

After a long day of hiking on the coastal path we absolutely enjoyed the calm and lovely place. The house is nicely decorated with attention to detail. We booked on the spur of the moment so only had 1 night stay but what a gem. Beautiful tranquil setting, friendly , helpful hosts but not in your face. Bedroom had everything we needed , had a luxury look but also homely. Luxurious bathroom , lovely toiletries & fabulous shower. Good homemade selection for breakfast. Will definately be back.
Tips:Only a few minutes drive to Mousehole, quaint harbour , must visit Tremayne B & B for a scrummy cream tea. Also St Buryan Farm shop , homemade Cornish pasties very tasty. For a takeaway , visit Lewis's in Newlyn . Cheap but good food. Cant remember tje name but a Portugese cafe in Newlyn for good coffee.

What is so special abut Castallack Farm is that you feel you are staying with friends - Nick and Rachel are so welcoming. The only snag is the location: it's charm is its remoteness but those Cornish lanes are so narrow that it can be quite a challenge to reach, specially in the dark!
Tips:As we come to Newlyn to see our son, we are not strictly speaking tourists, so I don't have the details of the places we visit - the North coast St Just - Bptallack - Zennor are always on our agenda
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thank you for taking the trouble to review our farm. Yes, the roads are narrow in parts but can definitely be navigated as long as you are not in a hurry! We love to have guests staying and it is our pleasure to look after them.

29th June 2019:
Very comfortable accommodation, and I appreciated the profuse amount of visitor information. I probably won’t visit again due to location, being down the very narrow lanes. As it’s necessary to book evening meals, and the lack of mobile signal it would be very helpful if you offered to contact restaurants or have landline available for guests to use.
Tips:It’s essential to book an evening meal at a local pub or restaurant, and the walk from the nearest is almost a mile up a very steep hill.
Would Recommend: No
Owner Response:Thank you for your comprehensive review. We value your feedback. We are always happy & often do contact restaurants & taxi firms on our guests behalf but only if we know that they are unable to do so themselves. We do have al ack of decent mobile phone signal but some providers have better coverage than others. Vodaphone is reasonable. The walk to The Wink is easy & downhill but the return is a bit of a challenge but well worth it.

12th June 2019:
Hosts very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the farmhouse, the room was lovely and spacious with everything you needed. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.
Tips:Maritime museum Falmouth worth a visit, particularly on a wet day, though it’s a bit of a walk from the park and ride drop off. Godolphin House, a National Trust property and surrounding walks, but check which days they are open. Also enjoyed Porthleven, the Twisted Current Cafe serves an excellent cream tea!

It was lovely to return once more to Castallack farm. A pity it was short though - we had our usual welcome by Tammy and Margot and I know that Tammy would have loved another breakfast as Megan had just finished hers.
Tips:We had our usual dinner at no. 2 Fore street and it was good to have another coffee in their very Cornish garden. We usually visit Boat cove in Perranuthno as it is so quiet, very rocky but you can gaze over Mounts bay and St.Michaels mount. Peranuthno has two excellent cafes. The Cabin and Peppercorns. There is the Cow House gallery which has some lovely art and crafts.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again (spaces permitting) when we return to Cornwall. Loved the tranquility of the setting and excellent breakfasts. Thankyou for lending us your seats for the Minack theatre. Very handy having the use of a fridge and it was so nice to have fresh milk daily to use for hot drinks. Although only a short stay we had a lovely holiday and look forward to revisiting sometime.
Tips:A warm welcome awaits you at this accommodation. It is conveniently situated for easy access to the Minack theatre which is a must do activity. Mousehole isn't too far to walk although you need good walking shoes and reasonable agility to tackle the coastal path there. Had a nice lunch at 2 Fore street restaurant . Booking is advised. Wonderful B&B facilities in a lovely farm with cats, dogs and horses. Comfortable bed, good shower and lots of information to make it a perfect base for touring the area. The only problems we encountered were lack of 4G for our phones and the wi-fi was patchy in our room. We needed to be able to contact family for a local wedding so this was important for our visit. The breakfast options were good but strangely it seemed that slices of toast were being rationed so be specific on what you would like.
Tips:The Kings Arms in Paul was a great pub to visit and less than 10 minutes by car.
Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thanks for revieing and sorry you experienced issues with phone and WiFi. We do make it clear that WiFi is not fast and that there is difficulty getting a phone signal on our website. Apologies if it is not clear enough. Again there must have been a lack of communication. We have never rationed toast and as we make our own bread we always have plenty. We give two pieces each to begin with and ask if more is needd. However glad you enjoyed the rest of our facilities and if BT would get a move on we might have superfast pne day!! Best wishes Nick

Would Recommend: Yes
Owner Response:Thank you very much for you nice comments. We obviously didn't show you the light switches as there are dimmable downlighters and wall lights in the lounge. Will remember to tell in the future. Regarding the second chair that isn't possible as the position of the bathroom door and the large cupboards don't leave a satisfactory space. I think most people use the bed to sit on. Best wishes Nick

We left some cheese behind. Please do as you wish with it. Wish we had more time; didn't even finish the Coast Path, so we'll be back.
Tips:The Tinners' Arms at Zennor and the Logan Rock in at Treen both did good food and beer, but were crowded even in May. The bed was amazingly comfortable;fresh milk was available for the hospitality tray; a comprehensive breakfast choice was offered; Nick was a very relaxed, helpful and obliging host; having a comfortable guest lounge to use in the evening was a great bonus.the premises were clean tidy and comfortable.
Tips:We had a most interesting time at Levant mine; a visit to Tintagel to see the site of KIng Arthur's castle was inspiring and a good though windy walk; great Cornish pasties at the Deli in Mousehole. the fish and chips from Ben Tunnicliffes in Sennen Cove were wonderful.

We have stayed at castallack farm for three years now, for b and b. We were very welcomed by our hosts Rachel and Nick together with Megan our border collie. It is situated in a very peaceful part of west Penwith. There is a lovely bridle path next to the farm which Megan loves. We do too! We think the best place to have ones dinner is no. 2 Fore street, mousehole,a small bistro restaurant The food is very good.
Tips:Back to the farm. The bedroom is very cosy with lovely beds and the breakfasts - there is a good range. I loved the fruit and homemade yoghurt.

Castallack Farm is a home from home yet professionally run by owners Rachel and Nick, they are extremely helpful with their knowledge of the area. Breakfasts are delicious with homemade bread, the aroma of which often greets you on your return from a day out! The bed was extremely comfortable which to me is all important for a good holiday! The water is always piping hot. I would definitely return for a further stay and hope to do so.
Tips:There is a good hostelry in nearby Lamorna called "The Lamorna Wink", seven miles away there is an excellent inn at Treen called "Logan's Rock", this became a firm favourite and is conveniently situated on the way to the Minack Theatre which is a must if you are staying here, even if you are not a theatre goer Minack is a wonderful experience. Castallack is also well situated for the Coastal Path, the bus service, every hour, is very handy for this.

Nick and Rachel were lovely hosts. And Nick went out of his way to transport us to the nearby village as we were without a car. Being US travelers we were a little wary of narrow roads and left-hand driving but did not realize that public transportation might not fit all of our needs. Regardless of that, my grandchildren loved all the animals, as I did. A lovely stay - would go again with a very small car!

Tips:Lamorna Wink pub, is walkable and does good food. A visit to Minack theatre just to see structure and hear the story of how it was created is a must as is a trip to St Michael's Mount. Mousehole is a very pretty fishing village and easily walkable from Castallack. Excellent in every way, bed altera clean, lovely linen. Nice big shower. Can't criticise in any way. The only slight criticism is that a shared fridge is a nusence, having to dress (or otherwise) to get the morning milk. Each room should have a small fridge. Wonderful choice of breakfasts, fresh and mostly local. Simply can not fault in any way, really beautiful atmosphere. Wonderful hosts in Nick & Racheal Hood. I could go on forever, 110 out of 100. Percent.
Tips:Be aware of the very narrow lanes with lager vehicles, this goes for many roads when heading for Cornish 'Coves' generally. You will have a wonderful holiday. Don't forget to eat at the 'Wink ' Inn at Lamona' Get a guide, loads to see and do. A Walkers paradise. Could go on and on,

First time we have been offered tea on arrival in 10 days of walking! Thank you, it was most appreciated. Room very comfortable, breakfast delicious, including best fruit/yoghurt. Only suggestion is to please put a couple of signs, showing the road to Castallack Farm. After 7 hours of walking we didn't want to walk a step more than necessary, and were not sure we were on the right path.
Tips:Make the effort to walk to the Lamorna Wink for dinner, especially if it's Quiz Night! Lots of fun and worth staying for.

Owner Response:Thanks for your review. We always send out detailed instructions but of course easy to lose or forget especially if cold & wet. Not sure what we can do about signs as we don’t own any of the land as you make your way up to Castallack until you are almost here. The Lands End OS map shows the road clearly but again you have to have that map. Sorry it made it difficult for you. Tea & cake always offered & nearly always accepted especially by walkers of the coast path.

Rachel and Nick could not have been more welcoming and helpful. I was travelling on my own and they gave me excellent advice on where to go, where to eat etc. and were so very friendly and welcoming on arrival and throughout my stay. I was made to feel very at home and nothing was too much trouble for them. I have stayed with them on previous occasions and cannot recommend them highly enough. Their standards are unfailingly high in every respect.
Tips:As I travelled on my own I was recommended by Rachel to eat at 'The Wink' at Lamorna on my first night. This is only a couple of minutes by car or a short walk down the road. It was excellent pub food and it was very easy to sit there without company. They only serve food on certain nights and the two following nights I ate at The Tolcarne Inn at Newlyn. This also was excellent and very easy to sit and eat on my own without feeling awkward. The lady behind the bar even brought me some magazines to read as I had forgotten to bring a book. The food was excellent. I lunched at The Old Coastguard at Mousehole (also recommended by Rachel) which was excellent and very easy to sit on ones own without feeling awkward. The walk along the coastal path from Lamorna to Mousehole is wonderful although you do need suitable footwear as it is rocky and muddy in places but well worth the effort. A cup of coffee in Mousehole revives you and it is a lovely walk back up the lanes and through the fields to Castallack Farm.

We were made so welcome at this gorgeous farm situated in the most picturesque area of Cornwall. Such a pity that we only stayed for 2 nights. This B & B exceeded our expectations. Tips:Approach road extremely narrow and not for the faint hearted! Very good location for anywhere in West Penwith. Excellent food everywhere but don't expect to be served after 8.30pm in a pub. If you love wild Cornwall; birds, flora, history, walking ... this is the place for you. We liked the Minack Theatre and the Telegraph Museum in Porth Curnow.

Lovely farm, with a nice cosy living room to relax in the evenings, playing games, reading books. The room was comfortable size for two people with enough storage. The toilet was neat and clean and smelt absolutely awesome! Nick and Rachel were the best host anyone could ask for... with great tips on where to hike and what to look at in the area. Also they were extremely kind enough to provide us with cushions and rug for our play at the Minnack, so we didn't freeze our bums off!! Lovely breakfast options, with fresh fruit, juice, home made jam and marmalade and well cooked breakfast too! They are happy to make up changes in your food to suit your requirement, as long as you let them know!... Over all a lovely place to spend 3 nights in....
Tips:Minnack theatre Penbirth cove Porthgwarra cove - you can go hiking up to the top and have a lovely picnic there ... The Apple Bee Cafe for lovely tasting home made food from local fresh ingredients.. their cakes are awesome 2Four street for a sit down meal is just absolutely awesome ...especially their scallops and turbot dish! Chysauster Ancient village Stay outside of the big city area like Penzance or Mousehole...the area near the 3 P's is well worth staying in for a true Cornish experience (Penbirth, Porthgwara, Porthcurno) ...

What a lucky find, we only wished we had stayed longer but not knowing the area we did not want to risk it. But will certainly try and get back some time.
Tips:We can recommend June as a good time, out of school holidays, plenty to do and see, good pubs for eating too.

Friendly and welcoming hosts. Hospitality is assured. Our personal pleasure was the provision - if booked - of a soup and sandwich supper, a good compromise between an evening meal and no meal at all, as we like the convenience of not having to drive out again evenings having been out all day.
Tips:Castallack Farm is a haven of peace, in a small hamlet off the beaten track yet near to many beautiful places such as Lamorna Cove, Mousehole etc. as well as the coast path and many field paths. The nearest local eatery is at the Lamorna Pottery, recommended. (Not open evenings).

We were made very welcome right from the outset by owners who clearly care about the provision of a quality comfortable stay for visitors including good food for breakfast. Full Cornish breakfast and the scrambled egg with smoked mackerel both thoroughly recommended. Lovely location in a quiet rural setting through typically narrow Cornish lanes but easy to follow instructions supplied by the owners.
Tips:Evening food at the Kings Arms at Paul very good. Evening food at the Lamorna Wink also good and friendly locals to talk with but the shortest route to Lamorna by turning right out of the farm gate is extremely narrow.

The proprietors are absolutely wonderful and everything about the place is just perfect. The rooms are very comfortable, quiet, fully equipped and ideal for a long stay, such as a week's holiday. Located near to Lands End, the Minack Theatre, Penzance and lots of other great places to visit, it is an extremely good base from which to explore Cornwall by car.
Tips:There are so many things to see that it would unfair to single out only a few of them as being the best. However, some things just have to be mentioned, e.g. Lands End, The Minack Theatre and Mousehole to name but a few. There are a multitude of excellent restaurants too. For example, "2 Fore Street" a restaurant in Mousehole, only a short drive from Castelack Farm, is excellent. Though small and more like a café than a restaurant and a little expensive, one can rely on quality and service. The "Admiral Benbow" in Penzance, not too far away from Castelack Farm, is a must see place. The place is magical [Treasure Island brought to life], the food is good and it is relatively inexpensive bearing in mind its excellent food, ambiance and service.

We had a wonderful stay at Castallack Farm. Great place to base yourself to explore south west Cornwall. Room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Excellent breakfast served in the 'private' lounge for the 2 B&B rooms. The lounge was also great to sit and relax in the evening with a glass of wine. Hosts Rachel and Nick were very welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. Would highly recommend.
Tips:Mousehole is a 30 minute walk (downhill) to the lovely Ship Inn pub on the harbour front. The Coastguard is also worth a visit but more of a hotel/restaurant than cosy pub. The Lamorna Wink pub is a 20 minute (downhill) walk down country lanes. Newly renovated, light and breezy pub with a friendly atmosphere and classic pub menu. (Closed all day Tuesday in the winter!) The farm has lots of books and literature available to plan walks and days out in the area. Great fish and chips at 'Roland's Happy Plaice' in Porthleven.

Great location, Rachel and Nik went out of their way to make us feel welcome. A home away from home. Would stay again in a heart beat.
Tips:Pretty central to most of the major tourist spots. A walk on 'The great flat lode' is a must after a guided walking tour by Viv Robinson of the blue badge guides. Mousehole is always a must see.

Can't think of anything negative at all. Lovely place, beautiful accommodation, and a very tasty breakfast. Had the best night's sleep in ages.
Tips:Take a walk down to Lamorna and give the pub and the cafe a visit. We found the pub food was good and had a seaside cream tea in the cafe (which is at the beginning of the coastal path).

good atmosphere, friendly and 15min walk to pub for supper a delight on a starry night as we had. If poor weather walkers might find the isolation a problem in this regard- but even so not far!
Tips:Good meal at the Lamorna Wink
